Short Description

A Salzburg cycling loop through the Salzkammergut lake district, from Lake Mondsee to Lake Wolfgang, Traunsee and Attersee. Blue water, steep green slopes and quiet shoreline paths. You pedal by day and drift across the lake by boat.

Tour Program

Day 1: Salzburg
You arrive in Salzburg at your own pace. Spend the evening wandering the lanes of the old town, where baroque squares and church domes set the tone for the week ahead.

Day 2: Salzburg – Lake Wolfgang (approx. 50 km)
If you have booked a rental bike, it will be handed over this morning. You set off from the birthplace of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and ride beneath the rock face of the Drachenwand to the shores of Lake Mondsee. A long, easy descent brings you down to St. Gilgen. In the Comfort and Premium categories, the day ends with a boat crossing on Lake Wolfgang.

Day 3: Lake Wolfgang – Lake Traunsee (approx. 40 km)
The morning starts on the water: Comfort and Premium guests take the boat from St. Wolfgang to Strobl, while Standard guests cross Lake Wolfgang by ferry. You then cycle to Bad Ischl, the old imperial town where Emperor Franz Joseph and Empress Sisi spent their summers. Stop for coffee and cake in one of its traditional pastry shops. Then you follow the river Traun to Traunkirchen or Altmünster.

Day 4: Lake Traunsee – Lake Attersee (approx. 40 km)
Lake Traunsee lies like a fjord between the Traunstein and the surrounding mountains. You ride into Gmunden, the ceramics town, with time for the lakeside castle of Orth and the long promenade. The route then climbs gently through the Aurach valley towards Lake Attersee. Literature lovers can make a detour to the Thomas Bernhard House in Ohlsdorf.

Day 5: Lake Attersee – Lake Mondsee (approx. 35 km)
You follow the pale blue waters of Lake Attersee as far as Unterach. A short, narrow valley of about 2 km opens onto Lake Mondsee. You cycle along its northern shore to the small town of Mondsee, where the evening is yours.

Day 6: Lake Mondsee – Trumer Lakes (approx. 45 km)
An easy ride through the Mondsee countryside takes you past the natural Lake Irrsee. By afternoon you reach the Trumer Lakes, a quieter corner of the region. Beer lovers will find a local brewery worth a visit.

Day 7: Trumer Lakes – Salzburg (approx. 45 km)
On your last cycling day there is time for a swim at one of the natural bathing spots along the way. The route is relaxed and scenic, with mountain views all the way back to Salzburg.

Day 8: Salzburg
Individual departure, or stay a few extra nights in Salzburg.

The Customer may withdraw from the contract (cancel) at any time prior to commencement of the tour. Cancellation must be effected in writing. In the event of cancellation or no-show the following cancellation fees shall become due in relation to the tour price:

Up to the 28th day prior to departure 20%, however at least 50.- euros per person.

From the 27th day until the 14th day prior to departure 30%.

From the 13th day until the 8th day prior to departure 50%.

From the 7th until the 4th day prior to departure 70%.

From the 3rd day or with no-show for the tour 90%.
