Cycle through the Salzkammergut on this 8-day self-guided loop from Salzburg. Glassy lakes mirror the mountains, the fairytale village of Hallstatt waits by the water, and imperial spa towns and quiet country roads link one postcard view to the next.

Tour Program

Day 1: Salzburg
You will arrive in Salzburg at your own pace. After checking in and receiving your travel documents, the rest of the day is yours to explore the baroque splendour of the city.

Day 2: Salzburg – Lake Wolfgangsee (approx. 50 km)
After collecting your rental bike, if you have booked one, you will set off toward Eugendorf and Thalgau. Quiet, relaxed paths will lead you to Lake Mondsee, where you will ride beneath the striking Drachenwand rising sheer above the water. From the Scharflinghöhe a magnificent view of Lake Wolfgangsee will open before you, and a sweeping descent will bring you to St. Gilgen. A ferry across the Wolfgangsee, bike included, will round off the day.

Day 3: Lake Wolfgangsee – Bad Goisern (approx. 30 km)
The bike path will carry you along the crystal-clear Wolfgangsee to the imperial town of Bad Ischl, where villas and grand buildings still breathe the flair of the monarchy. You will then follow the course of the Traun River at a leisurely pace to the welcoming town of Bad Goisern.

Day 4: Bad Goisern – Hallstatt – Bad Goisern (approx. 30 km)
A gentle ride will take you to Lake Hallstatt, with the Dachstein Glacier glinting in the distance. A boat will ferry you across to the world-famous village of Hallstatt, cradled between lake and mountains and part of the Hallstatt-Dachstein UNESCO World Heritage region. After the World Heritage Museum, you will have time to linger — perhaps over freshly caught fish at the water's edge — before returning to Bad Goisern.

Day 5: Bad Goisern – Traunsee (approx. 40 km)
Following the Traun once more, you will pass again through Bad Ischl and reach the picturesque Traunsee. The shore route will lead you through the historic town of Ebensee and the idyllic Traunkirchen with its lakeside promenade, ending in the ceramics town of Gmunden, whose landmark, Ort Castle on its little island in the lake, is one of the most beautiful views in the Salzkammergut.

Day 6: Traunsee – Mondsee (approx. 60 km)
One of the most varied stages awaits. Through the idyllic Aurach Valley you will reach the turquoise Attersee, whose light once inspired the painter Gustav Klimt. Following the shore through Unterach and then the Seeache River, you will arrive at the Mondsee, a town of cosy lanes, an imposing Baroque basilica and a lively lakeside promenade.

Day 7: Mondsee – Salzburg (approx. 60 km)
Your final stage will roll through the gentle countryside of the Mondsee region and past the quiet Irrsee, crossing the sparkling Salzburg Lake District. Returning to the Salzach Valley, you will follow the river back into Salzburg, where your journey through the Salzkammergut comes to an atmospheric close.

Day 8: Salzburg
After breakfast your tour comes to an end, with time for an individual departure or to extend your stay in Salzburg.

The Customer may withdraw from the contract (cancel) at any time prior to commencement of the tour. Cancellation must be effected in writing. In the event of cancellation or no-show the following cancellation fees shall become due in relation to the tour price:

Up to the 28th day prior to departure 20%, however at least 50.- euros per person.

From the 27th day until the 14th day prior to departure 30%.

From the 13th day until the 8th day prior to departure 50%.

From the 7th until the 4th day prior to departure 70%.

From the 3rd day or with no-show for the tour 90%.
