Tour Program

Day 1: Salzburg
Your journey begins in the UNESCO World Heritage Old Town of Salzburg. Baroque alleyways, the panorama of the fortress and the unmistakable Mozart atmosphere set the tone for the days ahead. Settle into your hotel and, to get in the mood, pause at a traditional café for a plate of Salzburger Nockerl — light, sweet and quintessentially Austrian.

Day 2: Salzburg – Bad Ischl (approx. 65 km)
You will cycle into one of Austria's most beautiful regions, the Salzkammergut, passing glistening lakes and rolling hills. At Mondsee you will meet the UNESCO-protected prehistoric pile dwellings, an early testament to Alpine settlement. The route carries you to Lake Wolfgangsee, where a ferry takes you across to St. Wolfgang. In the former imperial town of Bad Ischl, the historic Zauner pastry shop and its famous Zaunerstollen await anyone with a sweet tooth.

Day 3: Bad Ischl – Hallstatt – Bad Ischl (approx. 45 km)
You will ride gently to Lake Hallstatt, with impressive views of the Dachstein Glacier along the way. A boat then carries you to the world-famous village of Hallstatt, cradled between lake and mountains and part of the Hallstatt-Dachstein UNESCO World Heritage region. After the World Heritage Museum, there is time to soak up the atmosphere — perhaps over freshly caught fish on the lakeshore — before returning to Bad Ischl.

Day 4: Bad Ischl – Linz (approx. 60 km)
Today you will pedal via Laakirchen and Steyrermühl to Lambach, then continue by train to Linz. The capital of Upper Austria, a UNESCO City of Media Arts, invites you to explore its museums, riverside squares and lively modern culture.

Day 5: Linz – Strudengau (approx. 65 km)
You will follow the Danube along the popular cycle path, riding beside the UNESCO-protected Danube Limes, once the northern frontier of the Roman Empire. Ahead lie Enns, Austria's oldest city, and the charming little Danube town of Grein, with its historic centre and Austria's oldest theatre.

Day 6: Strudengau – Wachau (approx. 50 km)
Through the wild, romantic Strudengau you will continue towards the UNESCO World Heritage region of the Wachau. A landscape of historic sites and sweeping river views accompanies you all the way to the baroque Melk Abbey, the valley's most famous landmark. In the evening a cosy Heuriger invites you to linger over a glass of Wachau wine and regional specialties.

Day 7: Wachau – Vienna (approx. 45 km)
Enjoy the ride through the picturesque villages of the Wachau, passing Weißenkirchen and Dürnstein on the way to the medieval town of Krems. From Tulln a train carries you into the "City of Music," Vienna, where two UNESCO highlights await: the historic city centre and Schönbrunn Palace. Round off the day with a classic Wiener Schnitzel at a traditional inn.

Day 8: Vienna
After breakfast your tour comes to an end. Take the included train back to Salzburg, or extend your stay to discover more of Vienna.
