Yes — you can ride any of our tours on your own bike, or rent one from us instead. We do recommend renting, because not all bikes have the same parts, so we can only guarantee the best mechanical assistance when you hire directly from us.
You will always have an emergency phone number you can call. On self-guided trips, you will need to be able to make your own minor repairs, such as replacing an inner tube in the event of a puncture, or fixing a slipped chain, but you can always count on assistance on site for more serious damage.
We rank our tours on a scale of 1 to 5, based on the length, elevation changes and complexity of the itinerary. If you have any doubts then please feel free to contact us and we will be happy to help you find the trip that is right for you.
Yes — most of our partner operators offer an electric bike as an alternative to a standard one, for riders who want a more comfortable trip. You indicate the type of bike you prefer during the booking process, and the corresponding rental price is shown before you pay.

Yes — every tour booked through Life on a Bike includes BeSafe Rate Plus, already part of your quoted price. It covers trip cancellation for medical reasons, flight cancellations or significant delays, trip interruption, medical expenses and assistance while travelling, and baggage protection. You do not need to buy anything extra.
All payments are processed securely through Stripe. You can pay with any major credit card, PayPal, Apple Pay, or Google Pay. You pay a deposit to secure your booking, and the balance before departure.
Yes, you can change the tour date after booking, but this may incur penalties or additional costs. The exact terms are set by the local tour operator and vary by tour, so contact us as soon as possible and we will check the options with them on your behalf.
Not in advance, no: we often work with a large number of hotels in each area, so that we can offer you as much flexibility as possible when booking. We take choosing hospitality facilities very seriously, but for that reason we cannot provide an exact list of hotels before you book.
