How much does the Abruzzo bike, train and hike tour cost?
This 8-day self-guided tour starts from €1,300 per person in a double room, and costs €1,430 from December to February and in July and August. It includes 7 nights with breakfast, luggage transfer, GPX tracks, train planning, a confetti tasting and the Trabocco aperitivo. Bike rental is extra, from €176 for a touring bike.
When can you cross Abruzzo on this tour?
Departures are on request from November 2026 to October 2027, with flexible start days and Sunday preferred. A minimum of 2 participants is required.
Is Day 1 already an active day?
Yes. Unlike many self-guided tours, this one has no arrival night before the start: you arrive at Fonte Cerreto (Assergi) in the morning, take the cable car and hike at Campo Imperatore on Day 1. The bike stages start on Day 2, and the last day is for breakfast and departure only.
How difficult is the Abruzzo crossing by bike and on foot?
The cycling is easy to moderate: 6 stages of 30 to 55 km, mostly downhill or flat, as trains and the cable car skip the hardest climbs. The Day 1 hike at altitude is rated E/EE, about 9 km with 900 m of ascent.
Which bike do I need for the Abruzzo tour?
The route suits e-bikes, gravel bikes and MTB. Rental is not included: a touring bike costs €176, an MTB €281.60, a gravel bike €316.80 and an e-bike €281.60 for the tour.
Are trains and the cable car included in the Abruzzo tour?
The operator includes train planning; the cable car and train fares are not listed among the inclusions. Trains on Days 3, 4 and 5 carry your bike: Popoli–Sulmona, the Parks Railway Sulmona–Palena and Lanciano–Casalbordino.
How do I reach the start at Fonte Cerreto (Assergi)?
The nearest station is L'Aquila; by car use the A24 exit L'Aquila Ovest. The nearest airports are Pescara (Abruzzo Airport) and Rome. The meeting time and place for the first day are sent after booking.
