🙋 Common questions
How much does a cycling tour in Egypt cost?
This 13-day guided tour starts from €5,699 per person. The price covers seven nights on a superior-class Nile ship, five hotel nights, use of an e-bike, Egyptologist-guided visits, the domestic flight from Luxor to Cairo and most meals. Current prices and departures are shown in the Availability widget on this page.
When is the best time to cycle in Egypt?
Egypt's cycling season runs from late autumn to early spring, when daytime temperatures along the Nile are comfortable rather than punishing. Departures are scheduled in that window. Summer is not part of the programme: inland Egypt is too hot for a full day in the saddle.
How difficult is cycling in Egypt on this tour?
The tour is rated level 3: moderate distances on mostly flat terrain, with some city cycling and varied road surfaces. Riding days range from 15 to 51 km, seven days out of thirteen. All-road e-bikes are included, and the group rides as a supported caravan with guides, a police escort and a support vehicle.
Is this Egypt tour guided or self-guided?
It is guided. A tour leader rides with the group on every cycling day, and Egyptologists accompany the archaeological visits. This is not a self-guided tour.
Where will I sleep during the tour?
Two nights in a resort at Sahl Hasheesh on the Red Sea, seven nights aboard the superior-class ship H/S Nebu on the Nile, and three nights in a five-star hotel in Cairo. The ship moves between mooring points, so you unpack once for the whole Nile section.
Do I need my own bike, and what kind is provided?
No bike of your own is needed. Modern all-road e-bikes are included, along with a helmet and a pannier bag. Bringing your own bike is possible for a fee that covers parking and charging on board.
Do I have to cycle every day?
No. If you would rather not ride on a given day, you are welcome to stay on board and relax while the ship cruises to the next landing place. Six of the thirteen days have no cycling at all.
Do I need a visa for Egypt?
Most nationalities do. North American and European passport holders receive their visa on arrival at Hurghada airport, handled by the operator's ground staff; other nationalities may need to apply online in advance. Your passport must be valid for at least six months from arrival and have at least one blank page.
