Short Description

Mountain bike through three UNESCO Dolomites nature parks on old military and forest roads. From Villabassa to Cortina and back, with Plan de Corones, Rifugio Cinque Torri, and Prato Piazza. 177-235 km for fit riders.

Tour Program

Day 1: Arrival in Alta Pusteria (Villabassa/Dobbiaco)
You will arrive in the Alta Pusteria valley, in the heart of the Dolomites. Free uncustodied parking is available near the hotel.

Day 2: Villabassa/Dobbiaco – Malga San Silvestro – Markinkele – Villabassa/Dobbiaco (approx. 45 km; +1,475 m / easy variant: approx. 22 km; +700 m)
Your first ride will climb from Villabassa along an old military road to Markinkele, also known as the "Border Horn." After a break at the renovated Markinkelehütte refuge, you will descend back to Villabassa. The easier variant reaches Malga San Silvestro, a welcoming Alpine hut.

Day 3: Villabassa/Dobbiaco – Plan de Corones – San Vigilio (approx. 55 km; +1,490 m / easy variant: approx. 45 km; +220 m)
Following the Pusteria valley cycle path, you will tackle the long climb to Plan de Corones at 2,275 m — home to the Concordia 2000 peace bell and the Messner Mountain Museum. Experienced riders can choose downhill and freeride trails on the descent before pedalling on to San Vigilio. The easier variant uses the chairlift to the summit.

Day 4: San Vigilio – Senna/Fodara Vedla – Cortina d'Ampezzo (approx. 40 km; +1,200 m / easy variant: approx. 35 km; +950 m)
From San Vigilio you will ride through Pederü and up an old military road to Rifugio Fodara Vedla and Rifugio Senna, where a vast panorama opens onto some of the Dolomites' most iconic peaks: Hohe Gaisl, Cristallo, Sorapis, and Tofane. Through pine woods and Alpine meadows you will descend into the Fanes valley and on to the Olympic city of Cortina d'Ampezzo.

Day 5: Cortina d'Ampezzo – Rifugio Cinque Torri – Cortina (approx. 55 km; +1,800 m / easy variant: approx. 35 km; +900 m)
Today's circular ride will take you up to Col Rosa and on to Rifugio Cinque Torri. The five steep rock towers, once a single great boulder, stand at 2,361 m, with Monte Pelmo's immense mass rising opposite. After soaking in the views, you will return to Cortina. The easier variant uses the Col Drusciè cable car and optional chairlift.

Day 6: Cortina d'Ampezzo – Cimabanche – Prato Piazza – Villabassa/Dobbiaco (approx. 45 km; +1,010 m / Monte Specie variant: approx. 51 km; +1,300 m)
Your final ride will follow the cycle path to Cimabanche and then climb the old military road to the famous Prato Piazza plateau, framed by Dürrenstein and Hohe Gaisl. From here, Monte Cristallo, Tofana, and the legendary Tre Cime appear in the distance. An optional detour via Monte Specie offers an even closer view of the Tre Cime before the descent to Villabassa/Dobbiaco.
