Dolomites to Trieste: Two Nights at Lake Bled

Day 1: Arrival in Alta Pusteria (Dobbiaco or Villabassa)/Sillian
You will arrive individually at your hotel in the upper Val Pusteria.

Day 2: Alta Pusteria/Sillian – Oberdrauburg/Kötschach-Mauthen (74 km, +65 m / −595 m)
From the Sella di Dobbiaco, the watershed between the Drava and the Rienza, you begin a gentle descent across the Italian-Austrian border along the Drava to Lienz, capital of East Tyrol and known as the "city of the sun". The route continues to the historic village of Oberdrauburg, a Carinthian settlement ringed by old parish churches and imposing manor houses, with the Dolomites on the horizon throughout.

Day 3: Oberdrauburg/Kötschach-Mauthen – Feistritz an der Gail/Tarvisio (transfer + 65 km, +12 m / −420 m)
After a short transfer to the Gailbergpass — about 7 km and 350 m of climbing — you start easily towards Kötschach-Mauthen and then follow the Gailtal cycle path through one of the most characteristic Carinthian valleys, dotted with woods and lakes. You ride below the ridges of the Carnic Alps towards Hermagor and the Pressegger See, one of the warmest lakes in Austria, before reaching Feistritz an der Gail, a small village living on sustainable tourism.

Day 4: Feistritz/Tarvisio – Bled (55–65 km, +620 m / −715 m)
Leaving the Carinthian village behind you ride towards the Italian border and, after a stop in Tarvisio, on into Slovenia. Along the cycle path you will see the ski area of Kranjska Gora and the unspoilt Slovenian countryside. Bled awaits at the end of the stage, with its restorative thermal springs and its romantic lake reflecting the surrounding mountains.

Day 6: Bled – Gorizia – Gradisca d'Isonzo (train + 40 km, +165 m / −250 m)
After the included train transfer to the pass you reach Most na Soči, one of the most important prehistoric settlements in Europe, in the Soča valley — a paradise for canoeists, kayakers and adventure sports. Riding along the river you reach Gorizia and, through the Collio vineyards, Gradisca d'Isonzo.

Day 7: Gradisca d'Isonzo – Trieste (40 km, +270 m / −290 m)
From the fortress of Gradisca you climb onto the Karst, full of memories of the Great War, and head for the Adriatic. On the Gulf of Trieste, Miramare castle is the ideal place to understand the bond between the Habsburgs and the city. The stage ends in Trieste's magnificent seafront square, once a crossroads of Central European travel, whose historic cafés inspired Niccolò Tommaseo, Italo Svevo, James Joyce and Umberto Saba.

Day 8: Departure
Your tour ends after breakfast. You may choose to extend your stay in Trieste.
