How difficult is the Danube cycle path from Passau to Vienna?
This Danube tour is easy and well suited to beginners. The cycle path is completely paved, flat and runs almost entirely along the riverbank. Daily stages range from about 45 to 65 km, and an e-bike is available for those who prefer extra assistance. It is not suitable for people with limited mobility.
When is the best time to cycle the Danube from Passau to Vienna?
The best months are from late April to September, when the weather is warm and the vineyards and orchards of the Wachau are in full colour. This tour departs daily from 24 April to 16 October 2027, with quieter, cooler riding in late September and October.
How much does this Danube cycling tour cost?
This 7-day self-guided tour starts from €789 per person in a double room, staying in 4-star hotels with a wellness area and breakfast. The price includes daily luggage transfer, GPS route material, the Melk–Spitz ship passage, the Tulln–Vienna train and the return journey to Passau. Bike rental is available from €99 for a 21-speed bike or €239 for an e-bike.

Do I need to carry my luggage on this Danube tour?
No. Your luggage is transported for you each day from hotel to hotel, one suitcase per person up to 23 kg, so you cycle with only what you need. This is a self-guided tour, so you ride at your own pace using detailed digital route notes and GPS data.
What are the cycling highlights between Passau and Vienna?
The route links the City of Three Rivers in Passau, the dramatic Schlögen Loop, cultural Linz, the historic Strudengau and the vineyard-lined Wachau valley with Melk Abbey and Krems, before finishing in Vienna. A ship passage through the Wachau from Melk to Spitz is included.

The Customer may withdraw from the contract (cancel) at any time prior to commencement of the tour. Cancellation must be effected in writing. In the event of cancellation or no-show the following cancellation fees shall become due in relation to the tour price:
Up to the 28th day prior to departure 20%, however at least 50.- euros per person.
From the 27th day until the 14th day prior to departure 30%.
From the 13th day until the 8th day prior to departure 50%.
From the 7th until the 4th day prior to departure 70%.
From the 3rd day or with no-show for the tour 90%.
Insurance is not included in our tour prices. Separate terms and conditions apply to ALL COMBINED CYCLE AND BOAT TOURS:
