🙋 Common questions
How difficult is this tour?
An easy to moderate tour for regular cyclists. The Danube Cycle Path is flat and well paved; daily stages are 54 to 69 km, a little longer than on the classic tour, which is why the whole route fits into 7 days.
What type of accommodation is provided?
Good 3-star hotels along the river and 4-star hotels in Passau, Maria Taferl/Marbach and Vienna, all with breakfast. Half board with 4 three-course dinners can be added for €115.
How does the last day to Vienna work?
You ride via Tulln to Klosterneuburg, return the rental bikes and take the train into Vienna (every half hour, approx. €5 per person, paid on site). If you prefer, you can cycle the last 16 km into the city.
How do I get back to Passau from Vienna?
A passenger return transfer can be booked for €46 per person: by bus every Saturday from 8 May to 16 October and every Sunday from 30 May to 27 June, arriving in Passau around 1:30 p.m.; on the other days by direct train (every two hours, 2nd class). Your own bike can travel back for €40 (with the bus, or overnight for train returns on Friday, Sunday and Monday).
Can I rent a bike?
Yes. A trekking bike costs €90 and an e-bike €200 per stay (e-bike on request). Rental bikes are ready at your hotel in Passau.
Can I bring children?
Yes. Children 0–6 ride free, ages 7–11 get 50% off and ages 12–15 receive 25% off (one child per double room with two full-paying adults).
When can I start?
Arrivals on Saturdays and Sundays from 1 May to 9 October 2027, plus Friday 7 May and Friday 28 May.
