Short Description

Cycle the classic Danube path from Passau to Vienna in 8 days. Glide past the Schlögener Schlinge, through the Wachau wine region and Melk Abbey to the Austrian capital, choosing between 3-star and 4-star hotels. From €559 pp.

Tour Program

Day 1: Arrival in Passau
You will arrive in Passau, the picturesque City of Three Rivers where the Danube, Inn and Ilz meet. Travel documents and rental bikes (if booked) are waiting at your hotel. Parking can be booked and paid on site (approx. €11 per car per day). Time to explore the baroque old town and St. Stephan's Cathedral.

Day 2: Passau – Wesenufer/Schlögen (40–50 km)
You will cycle along the Danube through Obernzell, past the Jochenstein power station and the Trappist monastery of Engelhartszell, following the riverbank to Wesenufer or on towards the famous Schlögener Schlinge.

Day 3: Wesenufer/Schlögen – Linz (45–56 km)
You will ride through the Schlögener Schlinge and the quiet narrow valley near Kaiserau to the baroque market town of Aschach. The path crosses the fertile Eferding basin, passes the rococo church of Wilhering with its thousand angel figures and Ottensheim, and reaches Linz.

Day 4: Linz – Wallsee/Au (30–45 km)
You will pedal through the Machland region, past Steyregg and the Abwinden power station to Mauthausen, then on to Au or via Mitterkirchen to Wallsee.

Day 5: Wallsee/Au – Maria Taferl/Marbach/Pöchlarn (50–67 km)
You will cycle through the Strudengau with the romantic Hößgang riverside path to Ybbs and on to Maria Taferl, Austria's second-largest pilgrimage site, or to Marbach or Pöchlarn.

Day 6: Maria Taferl/Pöchlarn – Krems/Traismauer (54–67 km)
You will reach Melk with its imposing abbey and ride through the Wachau past Spitz, Weißenkirchen and Dürnstein with its castle ruins to Krems, a UNESCO World Heritage town, or Traismauer. A boat shortcut from Spitz or Dürnstein to Krems is possible (at extra cost).

Day 7: Krems/Traismauer – Vienna (70–80 km)
You will ride through the flower town of Tulln and the foothills of the Vienna Woods past Klosterneuburg Abbey into Vienna. Trains every half hour allow shortcuts from Krems, Tulln or Klosterneuburg.

Day 8: Departure from Vienna
Your tour ends after breakfast. You may extend your stay with additional nights or begin your journey home.
