Short Description

Cycle through Austria's Wachau Valley on this 6-day self-guided tour along three rivers. From your base in Krems, quiet paths follow the Danube, Kamp and Traisen past terraced vineyards, medieval Dürnstein and baroque abbeys, with a glass of crisp Wachau wine to end each day.

Tour Program

Day 1: Krems/Mautern – Arrival
You will arrive in Krems/Mautern, the thousand-year-old wine town at the gateway to the Wachau, and settle into your hotel. The day is yours to explore the surroundings, and to let it end with a glass of original Wachau wine.

Days 2–5: Day rides from Krems/Mautern
Krems is your base for four days, and each morning you choose your route. Several rides use an included train or boat, noted below.
– _Kamp Valley: Rosenburg – Krems (approx. 42 km; train Krems–Rosenburg included, day 2 only):_ A morning train, included, carries you to Rosenburg and its Renaissance palace with its birds-of-prey demonstrations. You will ride the Kamp valley cycle path towards Gars am Kamp and the Babenberg ruins of Gars-Thunau, then pedal back to Krems through the wine town of Langenlois.
– _Danube Valley: Melk – Spitz – Weißenkirchen – Dürnstein – Krems (approx. 37 km; cruise Krems–Melk included, day 3 only):_ A cruise, included, takes you upriver to Melk and its magnificent abbey. From there you cycle back to Krems through Spitz and its "1000-bucket hill", Weißenkirchen, and Dürnstein with its castle and ruins.
– _Traisen Valley: Krems – Herzogenburg – Göttweig – Krems (approx. 52 km):_ Along the Traisen cycle path you will reach the Augustinian monastery of Herzogenburg, then climb the steep ascent to Göttweig Abbey for the view over vineyards, fields and forests.
– _Danube cycle path: Krems – Tulln (approx. 48 km):_ You will ride the centrepiece of the Danube cycle path to the flower town of Tulln and its "Die Garten Tulln" garden fair, open April to October. A train returns you to Krems in the afternoon, ticket payable on site.
– _Traisen Valley: St. Pölten – Krems (approx. 37 km):_ A morning train, payable on site, takes you to St. Pölten, the baroque capital of Lower Austria, before you cycle back along the Traisen cycle path to Krems and the Danube.
– _Day trip to Vienna:_ You can take the train from Krems to Vienna, about one hour, payable on site, to discover the imperial city between Mozart, Sisi and St. Stephen's Cathedral.
– _Day of rest in Krems:_ A day for the wine town itself — a wine tasting with the Krems winemakers, the pedestrian old town, the cathedral and the Steiner Gate, or a gentle walk in the vineyards.

Day 6: Krems/Mautern – Departure
Your tour ends after breakfast in Krems/Mautern. You can extend your stay in the Wachau or begin your journey home.

The Customer may withdraw from the contract (cancel) at any time prior to commencement of the tour. Cancellation must be effected in writing. In the event of cancellation or no-show the following cancellation fees shall become due in relation to the tour price:

From the 27th day until the 14th day prior to departure 30%.
