Short Description

This Danube family cycling tour takes you from Linz to Vienna on flat, traffic-free riverside paths. Kids will ride the world's oldest Ferris wheel, explore a Celtic village and splash in the cool river.

Tour Program

Day 1: Linz
A warm welcome awaits children and grown-ups alike. After check-in you will receive your travel documents, and the rest of the day is yours. You might board the Dragon Train through the Land of Dwarves on the Pöstlingberg, with the historic city of Linz as a magical backdrop.

Day 2: Linz – Wallsee/surroundings (approx. 40 km)
Today you will step back into the Iron Age. At the Celtic open-air museum in Mitterkirchen, a reconstructed village shows your family how people lived and worked long ago.

Day 3: Wallsee/surroundings – Marbach/surroundings (approx. 40 km)
Old market towns and castles perch on forested hills as you ride into the Strudengau. In Grein, the maritime museum displays detailed models of historic shipbuilding. Ardagger then turns into a playground, with a water park and sandy beach-volleyball courts.

Day 4: Marbach/surroundings – Wachau (approx. 50 km)
Soon after Pöchlarn you will enter the Wachau, one of Europe's most celebrated river landscapes. The Benedictine Abbey of Melk rises above the town, visible from far away. Through endless vineyards you will reach the wine village of Spitz and its famous "1000-bucket hill".

Day 5: Wachau (rest day)
No cycling today. Climb up to the castle ruins of Dürnstein or Aggstein, visit the shipping museum in Spitz, or cool off with a swim in the Danube.

Day 6: Wachau – Stockerau (approx. 50 km + train Krems – Tulln)
Steep rock walls, sun-warmed terraced vineyards and blossoming orchards will frame your morning. A short train ride with your bikes takes you from Krems to Tulln, where your entrance to the Garten Tulln garden park is included. Then you will pedal on to Stockerau.

Day 7: Stockerau – Vienna (approx. 25 km)
A short, relaxed final stage brings Vienna's skyline into view, far from the traffic. The city loves music and sweets: expect waltzes, street performers, hot chocolate and cakes. When the kids need a change, head to the Prater amusement park, where your ride on the world's oldest Ferris wheel is included.

Day 8: Vienna
Before you leave, visit the Naschmarkt, Schönbrunn Palace or the zoo. The train back to Linz is included (your own bikes travel at extra cost), or you can extend your stay in the City of Music.

The Customer may withdraw from the contract (cancel) at any time prior to commencement of the tour. Cancellation must be effected in writing. In the event of cancellation or no-show the following cancellation fees shall become due in relation to the tour price:

Up to the 28th day prior to departure 20%, however at least 50.- euros per person.

From the 27th day until the 14th day prior to departure 30%.

From the 13th day until the 8th day prior to departure 50%.

From the 7th until the 4th day prior to departure 70%.

From the 3rd day or with no-show for the tour 90%.
