This is an easy, family-friendly cycling tour along the mostly flat Danube Cycle Path. Daily distances range from 30 to 50 km on well-maintained, largely traffic-free paths. Even younger cyclists can handle the stages comfortably, with shorter route options available on some days.

You will stay in a mix of 3-star and 4-star hotels selected for their family-friendly atmosphere. Linz and Vienna feature 4-star properties. Daily breakfast buffet is included, plus half-board with a 3-course dinner each evening.

Are bikes included in the price?

Bike rental is available as a supplement: trekking bikes at €90 per stay and e-bikes at €200 per stay. Children's bikes in various sizes are also available upon request. You are welcome to bring your own bikes.

How does the return transfer work?

The return journey from Vienna to Linz by train is included in the package. Trains run every two hours as a direct connection in 2nd class. Note that the ticket is not valid on Westbahn services.

Is luggage transported during the tour?

Yes, daily luggage transport from hotel to hotel is included. Bags are picked up at 9:00 AM and delivered by approximately 6:30 PM, with liability coverage up to €1,000 per person.

Tour Program

Day 1: Arrival in Linz
Welcome to Linz! Settle into your 4-star hotel and explore this charming Danube city at your own pace. Parking is available at the hotel or near the main railway station.

Day 2: Linz – Enns/Au (30–45 km)
Your cycling adventure begins along the Danube Cycle Path through the Machland region. Pedal past Steyregg and the Abwinden power station to Mauthausen, then on to your overnight stop in Au or Enns. Family tip: cool off at the beautiful Pleschinger Lake along the way.

Day 3: Enns – Grein/Bad Kreuzen/Ardagger (30–44 km)
Follow the northern bank to Mitterkirchen, where the Celtic Village awaits with its museum workshop, pottery, bakehouse, and weaving mill. Choose between a scenic ride past Clam Castle with its wild gorge and waterfalls, or a gentler route along the Danube to Grein. Family tip: visit Greinburg Castle or hike to the Stillensteinklamm Gorge.

Day 4: Grein – Maria Taferl/Melk (50–67 km)
Pass the legendary Island of Wörth and the dramatic Black Wall rock formation on your way to the Nibelung town of Ybbs. Continue along the northern bank via Persenbeug to your overnight stop in Maria Taferl or Melk.

Day 5: Melk – Krems (30 km cycling + boat cruise)
Cycle through the heart of the Wachau Valley, passing Aggsbach Markt and the famous wine village of Spitz with its Thousand-Bucket Hill. Then board a Danube cruise boat to Krems — a magical stretch on the water.

Day 6: Wachau Round Tour from Krems (42 km)
Explore both banks of the Danube on a loop through Dürnstein and Weißenkirchen to Spitz. Take the ferry across to Arnsdorf and cycle back along vineyards and the southern bank to Krems.

Day 7: Krems – Vienna (39 km cycling + train)
Pedal along the Danube to the flower city of Tulln, where you'll visit the Garten Tulln adventure playground. Drop off your bikes and catch the train to Vienna city centre. Cap the day with a ride on the famous Giant Ferris Wheel.

Day 8: Departure from Vienna
Say goodbye to Vienna or extend your stay with additional nights.
