How difficult is this tour?

This is an easy to moderate cycling tour. The route is almost entirely flat and follows car-free cycle paths along the Fulda and Weser rivers. There are only two short ascents of about 30–40 metres. Suitable for regular cyclists and families.

What bike should I bring or rent?

A trekking bike is ideal for the paved and gravel paths along the rivers. E-bikes are available for extra comfort. Both can be rented through us.

Is the return transfer included?

Yes. A daily bus/train transfer from Minden back to Fulda is included in the base price (departure approx. 8:00 AM, arrival approx. 11:30 AM).

Can I transport my own bike on the return transfer?

Yes, for an additional fee of €38 (must be booked in advance). Own bikes with a rim width over 5 cm are accepted only on request. On Friday and Saturday return days, bikes must be dropped off at the Minden hotel by 5 PM the day before.

Breakfast buffet is included daily. Half-board (4 dinners) is available as an optional upgrade.

Is parking available in Fulda?

Yes, public parking lots and hotel parking are available (approx. €10/day, payable on site).

Short Description

Cycle the Fulda and Weser rivers from Fulda to Minden — 394 km through Germany's most popular long-distance cycling corridor. Flat, car-free paths past half-timbered towns, monasteries, and the UNESCO World Heritage site of Corvey Castle.

Tour Program

Day 1 — Arrival in Fulda
Settle into your 4-star hotel in the baroque city of Fulda. Collect your travel documents and rental bike (if booked). Public parking is available near the hotel (approx. €10/day, payable on site).

Day 2 — Fulda to Bad Hersfeld (50 km)
Follow the car-free Fulda cycle path through the wide low mountain valley past Kämmerzell, Lake Pfordt, and Niederaula to Bad Hersfeld. Explore the largest monastery ruins in Central Europe and wander through the romantic half-timbered old town.

Day 3 — Bad Hersfeld to Morschen/Melsungen (43–60 km)
A mostly flat ride through the valley past Friedlos and scenic gravel lakes to Rotenburg an der Fulda, with its magnificent half-timbered centre. Continue to the historic Hotel Kloster Haydau in Morschen or the charming town of Melsungen.

Day 4 — Morschen/Melsungen to Hann. Münden (64–81 km)
Ride through a beautifully wooded valley with narrow river meanders and pristine nature reserves. A cable car near Malsfeld offers a scenic shortcut. Arrive at Hann. Münden, where the Fulda and Werra merge to form the Weser — a town celebrated for its stunning old town.

Day 5 — Hann. Münden to Höxter (66 km)
Follow romantic river bends along the Weser to Höxter, home to the elaborately restored Corvey Castle — a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Enjoy the town's historic streetscape.

Day 6 — Höxter to Hamelin (66 km)
Cruise through the wide Weser valley on wooded paths past Ehrenstein Castle to Bodenwerder and its half-timbered houses. End the day in the legendary Pied Piper town of Hamelin, with its magnificent Weser Renaissance architecture.

Day 7 — Hamelin to Minden (71 km)
Cross the wide river valley with its sweeping fields to Rinteln and its Renaissance old town. A gentle ascent through Hausberge leads you through the dramatic Porta Westfalica gap into the historic trading town of Minden, with its cathedral and grand squares.

Day 8 — Departure
End of tour. Return transfer by bus/train to Fulda is included (departure ~8:00 AM, arrival ~11:30 AM). Alternatively, book additional nights to explore the region.
