What is the minimum age?

Boat Bike Tours recommends its family adventures for children of school age and up, so roughly from 6. There is no hard cut-off: the children's bikes fit riders from 1.20 m / 4 ft, and for smaller children there are trailer bikes and child seats on request. Children under 16 must wear a helmet.

How much do you actually cycle?

Less than you might expect, and that is the point. There are short guided rides on four days: around Stari Grad, from Stari Grad to Jelsa, from Postira to Lovrečina beach and across Šolta. Only the Šolta ride has a published distance, 8 km. The rest of the week is cruising, swimming, walking and town time. No particular fitness is needed, the paths and short hikes are easy, and the guide rides with the group.

What do the children do all day?

They swim off the boat, play the Beach Olympics on Lovrečina beach, handle real hives at the beekeeper's workshop on Šolta, and ride the short stages with everyone else. On board there is a lounge and a sun deck, and the crew is used to children. Nothing is compulsory: anyone can stay on the ship for a stage.

Is the rafting included, and is it optional?

The rafting on the Cetina and the bus transfer to and from the ship are included in the price, so you do not pay extra for it. It is still optional: the itinerary describes it as an excursion you can join or skip, and your guide will say in advance if any activity asks for more than the usual. The other water activities on this tour are swim stops from the boat, not organised excursions.

Do we have to rent bikes, and what do they cost?

Rental is optional and priced per week: hybrid bicycle €80, e-bike €200, children's bicycle €60, trailer bike €60, child seat €20. All rental bikes come with a pannier. Helmet hire is possible but numbers are limited and must be reserved, so bring your own well-fitted helmets if you can.

What will we pay on board that is not in the price?

Tourist taxes and the basic drinks package (drinking water, tea and filter coffee), €80 per person and €40 for children up to 16, both paid to the captain. Any other drinks go on a tally sheet. Meals ashore, entrance fees, parking and the transfer to Trogir are on you.

Can three or four of us share a cabin?

Yes. Three sharing a cabin gets €200 per person off the basic tour price, four sharing gets €400 per person, and children up to 16 get €450 off in a double-occupancy cabin. The discounts cannot be combined with each other.

The San Snova, a premium motor yacht with 14 cabins for a maximum of 36 guests, air-conditioned, with oak panelling, a lounge and deck chairs on the sun deck. Cabins have a private shower and toilet, and are cleaned daily.

Short Description

Eight days in southern Dalmatia on one small ship, with the bikes on deck and the sea a step away. The rides are short and guided, the boat carries everything, and the days are built around swim stops, island trails, a beekeeper's workshop and a rafting run on the Cetina river. This is the one Boat Bike Tours programme designed around families: children from school age fit the pace, and so do teenagers and grandparents.

Tour Program

Day 1 – Trogir (embarkation) · no cycling
You reach Trogir on your own; Split airport is about 6 km away. Check-in on board the San Snova is at 2 pm and the first cruise leaves around 3 pm for the island of Brač, with a swim straight off the boat on the way. First night in Milna.

Day 2 – Brač – Hvar – Vis · no cycling
Morning cruise to Hvar town. Walking tour across the big Renaissance square, then a short climb up to the Spanish Fortress for the view over the town and the islands. Lunch on board, a long swim stop in the Pakleni islands and an afternoon crossing to Vis, where you spend the night.

Day 3 – Island of Hvar · short guided ride, distance not published
Cruise to Stari Grad with a long swim stop and lunch on board. In the afternoon a guided bike ride to explore Stari Grad and its plain. Overnight in Stari Grad.

Day 4 – Stari Grad – Jelsa · short guided ride, distance not published
Morning ride from Stari Grad across to Jelsa, where the ship is waiting. Swim stop at anchor, lunch on board, and the Captain's Dinner in the evening. Night in the harbour of Jelsa or at anchor.

Day 5 – Postira, island of Brač · short guided ride, distance not published
A longer morning cruise to Postira, then a ride out to Lovrečina beach, where big and small islandhoppers are put through a round of Beach Olympics. Lunch on board, free afternoon in Postira and sunset from one of the cafés on the waterfront.

Day 6 – Omiš and the Cetina river · no cycling
The ship cruises to Omiš during breakfast. The guided rafting run on the clear water of the Cetina, and the bus transfer to the river and back, are part of your tour price; joining is up to you. Back in Omiš, the afternoon is yours: the beach, the climb to the hilltop fortress, or the old town. Weather permitting the ship stays moored in Omiš overnight.

Day 7 – Island of Šolta – Trogir · 8 km
Morning ride on Šolta to Goran, a local beekeeper, for a hands-on workshop on bees and beekeeping that works just as well on adults as on children. Back to Rogač, lunch on board during the last crossing of the week, and a final swim stop in the Adriatic. In the afternoon a walk through the UNESCO-protected old town of Trogir, and a last evening on board with the crew and the guides.

Day 8 – Trogir (disembarkation)
Breakfast on board, disembarkation by 9 am.

About the distances: Boat Bike Tours publishes a cycling distance for Day 7 only (8 km). Days 3, 4 and 5 are short guided rides with no distance declared, so the total shown in this record is the declared figure. Depending on wind and weather the operator may run the week in the opposite direction, or adjust the route.
