🙋 Common questions
How difficult is cycling in Dalmatia on this boat and bike tour?
Daily stages run from 11 to 60 km on hilly island terrain with some steady climbs. Roads are mostly asphalt, with short unpaved sections on Hvar, and traffic is light outside the coastal towns. The opening ride on Šipan is deliberately gentle. E-bikes are available for rent and helmets are mandatory on every ride.
When is the best time to cycle the Dalmatian islands?
The season runs from spring to autumn. May, June, September and October bring mild temperatures and quieter island roads. July and August are hot and much busier in Dubrovnik, Korčula and Hvar, although the swim stops from the boat are at their most welcome then.
How much does a boat and bike tour in Croatia cost?
Prices vary by departure date and cabin and are shown live on this page under Availability; the lowest bookable price is currently €1,749 per person. Bike rental costs €80 per week and an e-bike €252 per week. Tourist taxes and the basic drink package are €80 per person, paid on board.
Is this Dalmatia tour guided or self-guided?
It is guided. An English-speaking tour guide leads the cycling stages described in the itinerary, and overview maps for each day are available on board. Guided city walks are included in Dubrovnik, Korčula and Trogir. Riding independently on recommended routes is possible after consulting the guides.
Where do you sleep on a boat and bike tour in Dalmatia?
You sleep on board the motor yacht Romantica, in a double or twin cabin below deck with private shower and toilet. Bed linen and towels are provided and the cabins are cleaned daily. The ship moors in a different harbour each night, so you unpack once for the whole week.
Which islands does this Croatia bike and boat tour visit?
The route takes in Šipan, Mljet, Lastovo, Korčula, Hvar and Brač, between Dubrovnik and Trogir. Mljet National Park is ridden on the second day, and Lastovo, reachable only by boat, is one of the quietest inhabited islands of the Adriatic.
Do I need to bring my own bicycle to Croatia?
No. A hybrid bicycle with an Ortlieb pannier can be rented for €80 per week and an e-bike for €252 per week. Helmet use is mandatory on all cycling stages; rental helmets are available in limited numbers, so bringing your own well-fitted helmet is recommended.
How is this different from the Trogir to Dubrovnik version?
It is not the same week run backwards. Starting in Dubrovnik adds the island of Šipan on day 2 and rearranges the island order, and the total distance is 173 km against 205 km the other way round. The operator alternates the two directions week by week.
