Alpe Adria – Mallnitz to Trieste

Day 1: Arrival in Mallnitz
You'll arrive in Mallnitz, on the main ridge of the Alps. Pick up your travel documents and rental bikes (if booked) at your hotel. Parking at the hotel or the nearby public car park (3-minute walk) is included. A welcome dinner awaits you to start the journey in the best way. Overnight in a 3-star hotel.

Day 2: Mallnitz – Spittal/Seeboden (54 km)
You'll follow the Alpe-Adria cycle path along the valley floor to Obervellach and into the scenic Drau Valley. Past the Möllbrücke bridge, you'll reach Seeboden on the shores of Lake Millstatt. If you feel like an extra ride, the car-free lakeside path to Sappl is a gem. Overnight in a 4-star hotel, with a speciality menu included.

Day 3: Spittal/Seeboden – Tarvis (69 km, +312 m)
A largely flat and car-free route follows the Drava River through Paternion to Villach, with its picturesque old town worth a stop. The path then rises gently along the Gail River to Arnoldstein and on to Tarvisio, your destination in a picturesque location. Overnight in a 3-star hotel.

Day 4: Tarvis – Venzone/Gemona (59–64 km)
Today brings the heart of the Alpe-Adria route: a stretch through the narrow Fella River valley on the old railway line to Pontebba. After a short road section, you'll continue to your overnight destination. Overnight in a 3-star hotel.

Day 5: Gemona – Udine (55–60 km)
Partly car-free and close to the Tagliamento River or on side roads, the route winds through the fertile Friuli countryside via Buia to Udine. This magnificent trading city will enchant you with Piazza della Libertà, the Duomo, and a lively old town. Overnight in a 4-star hotel.

Day 6: Udine – Grado (55 km)
You'll pedal to Palmanova with its Venetian fortress and on to Aquileia. The day ends in the charming coastal town of Grado, reached through the lagoon landscape. Overnight in a 4-star or 3-star superior hotel.

Day 7: Grado – Trieste (33 km + 24 min train)
On well-maintained cycle paths and quiet roads, you'll ride through the unique lagoon landscape near Monfalcone. A short train ride (included, bike ticket approx. €2 on site) brings you into Trieste, one of the most fascinating coastal cities in Italy, on the Adriatic. Overnight in a 4-star or 3-star hotel.

Day 8: Departure from Trieste
End of the tour after breakfast. You can extend your stay with additional nights, or book a return journey by train from Trieste to Mallnitz at extra cost (daily, departure 7:52 from Trieste central station, arrival in Mallnitz around 12:13–13:13).
