Alpe Adria – Mallnitz to Trieste

Day 1: Arrival in Mallnitz
You'll arrive in the charming Alpine village of Mallnitz, nestled at the foot of the Hohe Tauern mountains. Pick up your travel documents and rental bikes (if booked) at your hotel. A welcome dinner awaits you to start the journey in the best way. Overnight in a 3-star hotel.

Day 2: Mallnitz – Spittal/Seeboden (54 km)
You'll follow the Alpe-Adria cycle path along the valley floor to Obervellach and into the scenic Drau Valley. Past the Möllbrücke bridge, you'll reach Seeboden on the shores of Lake Millstatt. If you feel like an extra ride, the car-free lakeside path to Sappl is a gem. Overnight in a 4-star hotel.

Day 3: Spittal/Seeboden – Tarvis (69 km)
A largely flat and car-free route follows the Drava River through Paternion to Villach, with its picturesque old town worth a stop. The path then rises gently along the Gail River to Arnoldstein and on to Tarvisio, right at the Italian border. Overnight in a 3-star hotel.

Day 4: Tarvis – Carnia/Osoppo (59–64 km)
Today brings the heart of the Alpe-Adria route: a car-free stretch through the narrow Fella River valley along the old railway line to Pontebba. After a short road section, you'll continue to your overnight destination in the Carnia area. Overnight in a 3-star hotel.

Day 5: Carnia/Osoppo – Udine (58–63 km)
Partly car-free and close to the Tagliamento River, the route winds through the fertile Friuli countryside via Buia to Udine. This magnificent trading city will enchant you with Piazza della Libertà, the Duomo, and a lively old town. Overnight in a 4-star hotel.

Day 6: Udine – Grado (63 km)
You'll pedal through romantic villages to Palmanova, a striking Venetian star-shaped fortress town with its Piazza Grande and Renaissance palaces. Continuing via Cervignano, you'll reach Aquileia — a UNESCO World Heritage Site and former Roman imperial capital. The day ends in the old harbour town of Grado, reached through an impressive lagoon. Overnight in a 4-star or 3-star superior hotel.

Day 7: Grado – Trieste (33 km + short train)
On well-maintained cycle paths and quiet roads, you'll ride through the unique lagoon landscape near Monfalcone. A short train ride brings you into Trieste, the grand Habsburg port city on the Adriatic. Overnight in a 4-star or 3-star superior hotel.

Day 8: Departure from Trieste
End of the tour. You can extend your stay with additional nights or take the included return transfer from Trieste back to Mallnitz.
