The Pedemontana Cycleway: Vittorio Veneto to Trieste

Day 1: Arrival in Vittorio Veneto
You will arrive individually in Vittorio Veneto, known for its historic centre at the foot of the Prealps.

Day 2: Vittorio Veneto – Maniago (64 km, +330 m / −180 m)
The stage crosses varied country between the alpine slopes and gentle hills. From the old centre of Vittorio Veneto you ride between vineyards and small Pedemontana villages to Polcenigo, known for its basket-weaving and for the historic buildings along the Livenza and the Gorgazzo springs. The route continues to Aviano, with its tenth-century castle, and Malnisio, home to the first Venetian hydroelectric power station, now a museum of technology. The day ends in Maniago, the "city of knives".

Day 3: Maniago – San Daniele del Friuli (40 km, +350 m / −390 m)
Today you ride from Maniago through quiet hill country to Spilimbergo, with its handsome old centre and its well-known mosaic school. The route continues on quiet country roads across fields, small villages and gentle rises, with fine views of the mountains and the Friulian countryside, ending in San Daniele del Friuli — a lovely old town, and the home of a world-famous ham.

Day 4: San Daniele del Friuli – Tarcento (43 km, +270 m / −230 m)
After breakfast you leave San Daniele towards Gemona, known for its historic centre and its imposing cathedral. The route continues on quiet roads and cycle paths between fields, vineyards and small villages. After Gemona you ride on through fine landscape to Tarcento, a pleasant town known for its old centre, the Castello dei Patriarchi and its Friulian hospitality.

Day 5: Tarcento – Gorizia (68 km, +230 m / −370 m)
Today's stage takes you to Cividale del Friuli, a UNESCO World Heritage site, with its medieval streets, the celebrated Devil's Bridge and a wealth of historic buildings. After Cividale the route runs through idyllic country with fine views of the Julian Alps to Gorizia, an appealing border town with a history-rich centre and an imposing castle.

Day 6: Gorizia – Trieste (56 km, +270 m / −340 m)
The final stage runs from Gorizia to Trieste through the varied landscapes of the Collio and the Karst, with their vineyards, rolling hills and small villages, and wide views over the Adriatic. The tour ends in Trieste, an elegant port city known for its old centre, Miramare castle and its unmistakable Central European atmosphere.

Day 7: Departure
Your tour ends after breakfast. You may choose to extend your stay in Trieste.
