Short Description

Settle into the fairytale town of Bled and spend a week exploring the Julian Alps on two wheels. Each day you will set out on a different route — through alpine valleys, past glacial lakes, and into villages where time moves at the pace of the seasons. You will cycle beneath the gaze of Mount Triglav, glide through the Radovna Valley to the thundering Vintgar Gorge, and descend from the Pokljuka plateau into the emerald stillness of Lake Bohinj. Between rides, there is the island church to visit, cream cake to taste, and castle ramparts from which to watch the sun set over the Karavanke range. This is a hotel-based tour: one base, six day loops, and the freedom to choose your own rhythm. Eight days, seven nights, and the whole of alpine Slovenia within reach of your handlebars.

Tour Program

Day 1: Arrival at Lake Bled
You will arrive in Bled, a world-famous town on the shore of a glacial lake. The island church, the clifftop castle, and the Karavanke Mountains form the backdrop. Settle in, stroll the western shore, and try the local cream cake — Kremšnita — on the eastern lakeside terrace.

Tour A: Bled Sightseeing (15 km)
You will spend a leisurely day cycling around the lake and up to the castle. Hire a rowing boat or take a traditional Pletna to visit the island church. For the best views, ride up to Osojnica.

Tour B: Bled – Bodešče – Kropa – Radovljica – Bled (45 km; +640 m/-640 m)
You will cycle at the foot of the Jelovica High Plateau with views into Triglav National Park. In Kropa you will visit the iron forging museum. Continue to the old town of Radovljica with its beekeeping museum and ice cream shop. Return to Bled via the Sobec riverside area.

Tour C: Bled – Begunje – Bled (44 km; +530 m/-530 m)
You will visit the village of Begunje, home of folk musician Slavko Avsenik. After lunch at his restaurant, you will explore the Museum of Hostages and the ruins of Kamen Castle. The return passes Brezje Basilica, a significant pilgrimage site.

Tour D: Bled – Gorje (22 km; +420 m/-420 m)
You will ride to Pokljuka Gorge, formed 10,000 years ago at the plateau's edge. A walk through ancient woods leads to a fossilized ravine. Next: Vintgar Gorge, 1.6 km carved 150 metres deep by the Radovna River. A detour to St. Catherine's Church offers a panoramic view of Bled Castle.

Tour E: Bled – Bohinj (51 km; +430 m/-1,160 m)
A car transfer takes you to the top of the Pokljuka plateau. You will cycle down through alpine villages and past Slovene hay racks to reach Lake Bohinj in the heart of the Julian Alps. From Ribčev Laz, take an electric boat across the lake. Return to Bled via a new cycleway along the Sava River.

Tour F: Bled – Krma Valley (38 km; +480 m/-480 m)
You will cycle through the Radovna Valley between the Pokljuka and Mežakla plateaus to the foot of Mount Triglav. Lunch at a mountain hut, then continue through a forested valley dotted with WW2 monuments and traditional farmhouses — one converted into a museum once visited by Prince Charles.

Day 8: Departure from Lake Bled
Your tour ends after breakfast.
