Lakes and Cities: From Slovene Alps to Country Capital

Day 1: Arrival in Bled
You will arrive in Bled, a world-famous town on the shore of a glacial lake ringed by alpine peaks. Its island church sits at the centre of the lake, its clifftop castle stands guard above the town, and the Karavanke Mountains rise behind it all. You will stroll the lakeside promenade, take a boat to the island to ring the bell of wishes, and taste the legendary cream cake — Kremšnita — in one of the charming teashops along the water.

Day 2: Bled – Bohinjska Bistrica (27 km; +130/−830 m)
A bus will take you up to the high plateau at Pokljuka, where alpine panoramas open up before a long, exhilarating descent into the Bohinj Valley — the jewel of the Triglav National Park. You will cycle through small alpine villages to the settlement of Ribčev Laz on the shore of Lake Bohinj, the largest and deepest natural lake in Slovenia, ringed by shimmering mountain peaks. An optional side trip (16 km return) takes you around the lake to the Savica Waterfall, and the cable car up to Vogel Mountain reveals a spectacular view of Mount Triglav, the highest peak in the Julian Alps.

Day 3: Bohinjska Bistrica – Škofja Loka (49 km; +900/−1,050 m)
You will leave Bohinj and climb to the Jelovica high plateau — a lift to the top of the mountain pass is available for those who prefer to skip the steepest section. From the summit, the route plunges through deep forest into the Selška Dolina valley. You will stop in Sorica, a small alpine village and birthplace of the Slovene painter Ivan Grohar, then continue through the historic iron-smelting town of Železniki before arriving in Škofja Loka, one of the oldest and best-preserved medieval towns in Slovenia.

Day 4: Škofja Loka – Ljubljana (31 km; +170/−240 m)
A gentle ride brings you to Ljubljana, Slovenia's compact and vibrant capital. You will explore the historic old town with its ornate fin-de-siècle architecture, walk or ride up to the mighty Ljubljana Castle perched on its hilltop, and take in the commanding views from its tower. As evening falls, the bars and cafés along the Ljubljanica River come alive — the perfect setting for your farewell evening.

Day 5: Departure
After breakfast, your tour ends in Ljubljana. Extension of your stay is possible.
