Short Description

A circular tour through the heart of Alto Adige, from the Dolomites to the vineyards. Starting and ending in Bressanone, you will pedal along pristine cycle paths through the Pusteria Valley, past Bolzano and the wine villages of Lake Caldaro, into elegant Merano, and through the orchards of Val Venosta — all on mostly flat terrain that welcomes every cyclist.

Tour Program

Day 1: Arrival in Bressanone
Individual arrival at your hotel in Bressanone, the charming episcopal town at the meeting of the Isarco and Rienza valleys.

Day 2: Bressanone – Alta Pusteria – Bressanone (approx. 65 km)
A morning transfer brings you to Dobbiaco, in the heart of the Dolomites. From there you will ride the Pusteria Valley cycle path along the Rienza River, passing through the Braies Valley and reaching Brunico before continuing past the ruins of the Rio di Pusteria gorge. Near Bressanone, a visit to the Novacella Monastery is well worth a stop. Back in town, stroll through the arcaded streets and the atmospheric Cathedral Square.

Day 3: Bressanone – Bolzano (approx. 40 km)
The Isarco Valley cycle path leads south through renowned vineyards to Chiusa, a picturesque town of hidden alleys. At the end of the stage, Bolzano welcomes you with its famous arcades, the lively Piazza Walther, and the South Tyrol Museum of Archaeology, home of Ötzi the Iceman.

Day 4: Bolzano – Appiano – Lake Caldaro – Bolzano (approx. 45 km)
A circular ride through the wine country around Appiano, where castles and manor houses line the route. A detour to Lake Monticolo offers a refreshing swim. You will reach the shores of Lake Caldaro, South Tyrol's warmest lake, and the village of Caldaro with its wine museum, before returning to Bolzano.

Day 5: Bolzano – Merano (approx. 35–40 km)
Following the Wine Road, you will ride through the largest fruit-growing area in Europe, where the famous South Tyrolean apple ripens in the sun. A stop at the historic Andriano winery is a delight before continuing to Merano, the elegant spa town beloved by Empress Sissi. The Trauttmansdorff Castle Gardens, voted Italy's most beautiful, are not to be missed.

Day 6: Merano – Val Venosta/Malles – Merano (approx. 60 km)
A train ride to Malles marks the start of a gentle, mostly downhill ride along the Adige River through the Val Venosta. You will pass Glorenza, Alto Adige's smallest town, and pedal through orchards past Prato, Lasa, Silandro, and Naturno back to Merano.

Day 7: Merano – Val Passiria – Merano (approx. 35 km)
A final loop takes you into the Passiria Valley along its dedicated cycle path, with mountain panoramas and river views accompanying every pedal stroke. Return to Merano for your last evening.

Day 8: Departure
Transfer back to Bressanone, or possibility to extend your stay.
