Start from the filters at the top of this page: country, number of days, difficulty and price. Most riders narrow it down in three moves — pick a country, set the daily distance you are comfortable with, then sort by price. Every tour card shows the operator, the total distance, the daily average and a difficulty rating out of five, so you compare like with like before opening a single tour page.
The price is per person in a double room and includes the hotels along the route with breakfast, daily luggage transfer between them, GPS tracks and route notes, and local support by phone during the trip. Bike rental, flights, lunches, dinners and city taxes are quoted separately — each tour page lists exactly what is in and what is out for that itinerary.
On self-guided tours, yes: you choose the departure date and the operator books the hotels in sequence around it. Availability is confirmed with the operator before you pay, so you are never committed to a date that does not exist. Guided group tours are the exception — they run on fixed departures, listed on their own pages.
On most of them. Where an e-bike is offered, the tour page shows it as a rental option with its own weekly price, usually €150-250 against €90-150 for a hybrid. On the flat river routes an e-bike is a comfort choice; on the alpine and Dolomite itineraries it is what turns a hard week into an enjoyable one.
Send a request from the tour page. We check the dates with the local operator who runs that itinerary and come back with a written quote covering hotels, bikes and extras. You book once the quote is confirmed — there is no instant checkout, because availability on self-guided routes is confirmed hotel by hotel.
The local operator named on the tour page. Lifeonabike is a marketplace: we publish and compare tours from 30+ operators across 20+ countries, and the operator you would have found locally is the one who books the hotels, moves the luggage and answers the phone during your trip.
