Surprising Umbria: 5-Day Cycling Tour from Assisi to Spoleto

Day 1: Assisi
You will arrive in Assisi, a medieval city built on the slopes of Monte Subasio, overlooking the fertile Umbrian Valley. Narrow lanes twist between ancient palaces and open onto sunlit piazzas with tinkling fountains — a maze that invites you to wander at leisure. The Basilica of San Francesco, the Basilica of Santa Chiara and the hilltop Rocca Maggiore are just a few of the treasures waiting to be explored. Day 3: Torgiano – Bevagna (28 km)
You will cycle through the rolling Umbrian countryside to Bevagna, one of the rare medieval towns built on the valley floor rather than on a hilltop. Piazza Silvestri is the beating heart of the town — the Gothic Palazzo dei Consoli and two elegant Romanesque churches frame a lively gathering place. Day 4: Bevagna – Spoleto (33 km)
Your final cycling day will carry you south to Spoleto, a city you will recognise from afar by its imposing Rocca Albornoziana crowning the hilltop. You will enter through the cycle path and, past Porta Garibaldi, leave your bike to explore on foot: the Romanesque cathedral, the breathtaking Ponte delle Torri aqueduct, the Roman amphitheatre and a web of medieval lanes. Day 5: Departure
After breakfast your tour comes to an end. If you left your car at the first hotel in Assisi, you may return by train or arrange a private transfer.
