Short Description

Explore Umbria at a leisurely pace on this 5-day self-guided cycling loop from Spello. You will ride through the flat Umbrian Valley, visiting Bevagna, Torgiano, and Assisi while savouring the region's acclaimed wines and centuries of history along quiet country roads.

Tour Program

Day 1: Arrival in Spello
Your tour begins in the charming town of Spello, draped in flowers and perched on the edge of the Umbrian Valley. You will check into your hotel in the historic centre and enjoy panoramic views from the terrace. Spend the rest of the day wandering the cobbled lanes at your own pace.

Day 2: Spello – Bevagna
This morning you will leave Spello and cycle across the flat valley floor towards Bevagna. The route passes through a patchwork of vineyards and olive groves, with the Apennine foothills as a constant backdrop. Bevagna greets you with its perfectly preserved Roman piazza and intimate medieval atmosphere — an ideal place to linger over a long lunch.

Day 3: Bevagna – Torgiano
A short and relaxed ride takes you through the heart of the Montefalco wine district towards Torgiano. This hilltop borgo sits at the meeting point of the Chiascio and Tevere rivers, surrounded by the vineyards that produce the famous Rosso Riserva D.O.C.G. The Wine Museum in Palazzo Graziani-Baglioni is a rewarding stop.

Day 4: Torgiano – Spello via Assisi (33 km; +398m/−320m)
Today you will cross the valley on quiet lanes to reach Assisi. The short climb rewards you with the magnificent Basilica of San Francesco and sweeping views across the plain. From Assisi, you will glide downhill through olive groves back to Spello, completing the loop.

Day 5: End of tour
After breakfast, your journey comes to an end. Depart at your leisure.
