🙋 Common questions
How difficult is the Portugal cycling and cooking tour?
The tour is rated medium, but the first two cycling days in the Serra d'Aire e Candeeiros Natural Park are hard on a normal bike, with long steep hills and up to about 800 metres of climbing. An e-bike is highly recommended: with it, those days become medium. The other stages range from 12 to 63 km on gentler terrain.
How much does the Portugal cycling and cooking tour cost?
The price shown on this page is per person in a double room with breakfast and depends on the season. It includes three dinners and three cooking classes (drinks excluded), luggage transfer, the transfers listed in the program, a personal briefing and bike fitting, a navigation app and 24-hour phone support.
When can I take the cycling and cooking tour in Portugal?
The tour can start on any day; the standard departure day is Saturday, and other days carry a supplement. Cooking classes are not available in Alvados on Sundays, so the class may move to the first day. Easter, Christmas and New Year are on request.
What do the cooking classes include?
You will learn to prepare traditional Portuguese dishes with simple ingredients and regional recipes, in three classes: in Alvados, at the farmhouse near Évora and in Santiago do Cacém. Drinks are not included.
What bikes are available on this tour?
You can rent a bicycle, a gravel bike or an e-bike as a supplement. Riding the route on a normal bike is very difficult, so an e-bike is highly recommended.
Is the cycling and cooking tour guided?
No, it is a self-guided tour with a personal pre-tour briefing and bike fitting by a local guide, a personalised navigation app, luggage transfer and 24-hour phone support. You handle small bike repairs on your own.
Where does the tour start and end?
The tour starts in Alvados and ends in Vila Nova de Milfontes. Transfers from Lisbon airport to Alvados and from Vila Nova de Milfontes to Lisbon airport can be booked as supplements.
