🙋 Common questions
How much does the Istria wine roads cycling tour cost?
The 8-day Istria wine roads cycling tour starts from €980 per person in a double room, in the Standard 3-star hotel category. Prices vary by season, and a Superior 4-star category is also available. Bike rental is separate, from €140 for the six cycling days. Single room and solo traveller supplements apply.
When is the best time to cycle the Istria wine roads?
The tour can start on any day from 15 March to 15 November. Spring departures from April to mid-June and autumn departures from late September to mid-November are priced below the summer peak, which runs from 20 June to 19 September. Every season combines inland hill towns with coastal stretches around Umag, Novigrad, Poreč and Rovinj.
How difficult is this cycling tour in Istria?
The tour is graded easy to moderate and suits occasional cyclists with a good level of fitness. Daily distances range from 35 to 55 km, with some longer days and higher hills, such as the ride up to Grožnjan and Motovun. An e-bike is a sensible choice if you would like extra help on the inland climbs.
Which bikes can I rent for the Istria wine roads tour?
Bike rental is not included in the tour price. For the six cycling days you can choose a custom-built trekking bike (€140), a gravel bike (€240), an e-trekking bike (€260), a carbon road bike (€270) or a carbon e-gravel bike (€360). Each comes with a helmet, lock, hand pump, spare tube, phone holder and cycle computer.
Is luggage transfer included on this Istria cycling tour?
Yes. Your luggage is transported between accommodations each time you change base, so you only carry what you need for the day. The tour uses four bases: three nights in the Buje area, one night in Motovun, two nights in Poreč and a final night in Rovinj.
How do I get to the start of the tour in Buje?
Arrival in Istria is independent. Private car or van transfers can be prebooked to the Buje–Brtonigla area from Pula, Trieste, Venice, Zagreb and Ljubljana airports or stations, and from Rovinj back to these hubs at the end. Prices are per vehicle, starting from €150 one way from Pula for one to three people.
How does navigation work on a self-guided tour in Istria?
You will use a navigation app with offline maps, voice guidance, points of interest and restaurant suggestions, along with a digital information package containing route descriptions, maps and GPX files. A printed route description with maps is available for €25 per set, and a 24/7 emergency number is available throughout the tour.
