What is the difficulty level of this tour?
This is the sportive version of the Villach-Grado route, covering approximately 195 km in three cycling days with stages of 50 to 79 km. The terrain is mostly flat to gently rolling on dedicated cycle paths and quiet secondary roads. A good level of fitness is recommended.
What type of accommodation is provided?
You will stay in 3-star hotels, occasionally 4-star, in double rooms with private bathroom. All nights include breakfast.
Is luggage transfer included?
Yes, your luggage is transported from hotel to hotel each day so you can ride with only a daypack.
Can I rent a bicycle?
Yes, you can rent a 21-speed touring bike or an e-bike with 500 W battery and up to 100 km range. A premium TOP bike is also available.
How do I get back to Villach from Grado?
A shuttle bus transfer from Grado to Villach is available on request on selected days for €79 per person plus €45 for your own bike. Alternatively, you can travel by bus to Cervignano station and then by train via Udine to Villach.
What is the best season for this tour?
The tour runs from late April to late September. Late spring and early autumn offer mild temperatures and quieter roads, while summer provides the warmest weather for combining cycling with beach days in Grado.
Is this tour suitable for teenagers?
The tour is recommended for ages 14 and above. Given the longer daily stages, a reasonable level of cycling experience is advised.
Do I need to cross international borders?
Yes, you will cross from Austria into Italy on Day 2. Both countries are in the Schengen area, so no border formalities are required for EU citizens.
