How difficult is this tour?
This is a moderate cycling tour. Most of the route is flat or gently downhill as you descend from the Alps to the Adriatic. Day 3 includes 312 metres of gradual climbing along the Gail River valley. The route uses car-free paths and quiet secondary roads. Suitable for regular cyclists.
What bike should I bring or rent?
A trekking bike handles the mix of paved paths and occasional gravel sections well. E-bikes are available for those who want extra support on the uphill sections.
Is the return transfer included?
Yes, a bus transfer from Grado back to Mallnitz is included on Saturdays and Sundays (full season). On other departure days, own return to Mallnitz is required.
What if I don't need the return transfer?
A deduction of €55 per person is applied if you choose not to use the included return bus transfer.
Can I transport my own bike on the return bus?
Yes, for an additional fee of €38 (must be booked in advance). Bike and rider travel together on the bus. Own bikes with a rim width over 5 cm are accepted only on request.
Is parking available in Mallnitz?
Yes, free unguarded parking at the hotel or a nearby public car park (3-minute walk) is included.
Are meals included beyond breakfast?
A welcome dinner on the arrival day in Mallnitz is included. Additional half-board (3 dinners, not available in Spittal and Grado) can be added as an upgrade.
Which countries does the route cross?
The tour starts in Austria (Mallnitz, Carinthia), crosses into Italy at Tarvisio, and finishes in Grado on the Adriatic coast. You ride through two distinct cultural regions: Austrian Alps and the Friulian countryside with Adriatic lagoon.

• 29 to 20 days before the departure date: 30% penalty of the total package
