🙋 Common questions
How difficult is this tour?
An easy, leisurely tour: shorter daily stages (42–58 km) than the classic itinerary, mostly flat or downhill from the Alps to the Adriatic. Day 4 includes 341 metres of gentle, continuous climbing along the Gail river. Most of the route is on car-free paths and former railway lines.
How is this different from the 7-day Mallnitz to Grado tour?
The leisure version adds an extra night in Villach, splitting the ride into shorter stages and giving you more time to enjoy the towns along the way.
Is the return transfer included?
No. A return bus from Grado to Mallnitz can be booked at extra cost (€75 per person) on Saturdays and Sundays from 15 May to 23 October, departing around 9:00 from the central piazza and arriving in Mallnitz around 14:30. On other days you travel back on your own; booking rental bikes is recommended.
Can I bring my own bike?
Yes. Return transport of your own bike costs €40 and must be booked in advance; it travels with you on the return bus.
Is parking available in Mallnitz?
Yes, parking at the hotel or a nearby public car park (3-minute walk) is included for the whole tour.
Are meals included beyond breakfast?
Dinner on the arrival day in Mallnitz is included. Half board (3 three-course dinners) can be added for €99 per person.
When can I start?
Arrivals on Sundays and Mondays from 9 May to 18 October 2027, plus Fridays and Saturdays from 9 July to 18 October 2027.
What type of accommodation is provided?
Good mid-range hotels: three nights in 3-star and four nights in 4-star hotels, all with breakfast buffet or extended breakfast.
