Vienna Cycling Tour

Day 1: Arrival in Vienna
Individual arrival in Vienna. Use your first day to settle in and explore your surroundings. Take a stroll through the historic centre — St. Stephen's Cathedral is only a few metro stops from your hotel — or hop aboard a traditional Heuriger wine express (optional) to dive straight into the city's wine culture.

Days 2–5: Day rides from Vienna
Over the next four days you will set out from your central Vienna hotel on a choice of signposted day rides, returning to the same hotel each evening. A guided bike tour through Vienna is included on your first cycling day. Pick the routes that suit your mood:

Habsburg Tour (approx. 36 km)
Cycle in the footsteps of the once glorious Austrian Empire. The grand buildings of the Ringstrasse and the sheer scale of the Hofburg will leave their mark, while the Imperial Treasury and the Sisi Museum guard the treasures of the monarchy. The ride's crowning finale is Schönbrunn Palace.

Vienna Art Treasures Tour (approx. 19 km)
A gentle ride into the world of classical and modern Viennese art. Roll past the striking Hundertwasserhaus and the collections of the Albertina, the Secession, the MUMOK and the MAK, then follow the street art lining the Danube Canal.

Green Oases Tour (approx. 40 km)
A day dedicated to Vienna's parks and gardens. Ride leisurely through the Prater and on to the Botanical Gardens at Belvedere Palace and the Augarten, the city's oldest baroque garden, before reaching the Danube Island and the traditional Heuriger inns to the north.

National Park Donau-Auen Tour (approx. 30 or 60 km)
Vienna borders the Donau-Auen National Park, the last great river floodplain landscape in central Europe. Set out from the national park centre in Orth and either cross the river by ferry (payable locally) to return by train — possible on day 4 only — or pedal back to the city along the Danube Island.

Weinviertel–Danube Tour (approx. 55 km)
Ride to the gates of the Weinviertel wine country. Klosterneuburg and its historic abbey welcome you before a ferry crossing (payable locally) brings you to Korneuburg, the medieval Kreuzenstein Castle and the cellar lanes that speak of the region's winegrowing tradition.

Danube Cycle Path to Bratislava (approx. 45 km)
Follow the Danube to the Slovak capital, riding through the floodplain national park past the castles of Orth and Eckartsau and the spa town of Bad Deutsch-Altenburg before reaching Bratislava's dreamy old town. A train opens the day and a boat carries you back to Vienna.

Thermal Region Tour incl. wine tasting (approx. 59 km)
Cross the city from north to south into the wide Vienna Basin, passing Laxenburg Castle and picturesque vineyards. Taste the wines of one of Austria's oldest wineries before reaching the UNESCO-listed spa town of Baden, with the train bringing you home.
