🙋 Common questions
How much does the Danube catamaran bike cruise from Passau to Budapest cost?
This 8-day bike cruise starts from €1,105 per person in a double cabin on the main deck. The price includes seven nights on board with full board, harbour fees, daily route briefings, maps and a wine tasting. Rental bikes cost €95 and e-bikes €210 per tour.
When does the Passau–Budapest bike cruise depart in 2027?
The cruise departs on Fridays between 30 April and 17 September 2027, with sixteen fixed departures. Prices depend on the date: the late-April sailing is the cheapest, early May and mid-September are low season, and the remaining spring and summer departures are high season.
How difficult is cycling on the Danube between Passau and Budapest?
The cycling is easy. Daily stages run from about 22 to 64 km on the flat, largely car-free Danube Cycle Path, and several days offer an optional longer active version. E-bikes are available for riders who want extra assistance.
What kind of ship is used on this Danube bike cruise?
You sail on a first-class river catamaran, the only double-hulled cruise ship on the Danube. All cabins face outwards; main deck cabins measure about 11.5 m², while upper and promenade deck cabins are 16.5 m² with a balcony. A whirlpool, Kneipp pool and sauna are free to use.
What happens if the water level on the Danube is too low?
In rare periods of low water the ship may only be able to sail between Passau and Vienna. In that case daily cycling tours of 55 to 70 km are organised from the ship, partly with bus transfers, and a refund of €55 or €77 per person applies depending on the cabin.
Can I bring my own bike on the Danube cruise?
Yes. Your own bike or e-bike travels free of charge, and charging is included, although no liability is accepted for transport damage. E-bike batteries must be removable. Rental bikes are prepared according to your height, which must be given at booking.
Is parking available in Passau for the bike cruise?
Yes. A private, fenced car park on Kapuzinerstraße in Passau can be booked for €77 per car for the whole cruise; it is fenced but not guarded. Several small ferry crossings on the route cost about €3 to €6 per person, paid on site.
