Short Description

Cycle through the legendary vineyards of Bordeaux on this 5-night self-guided tour from Pauillac. You will ride the Route des Grands Crus past Lafite Rothschild, Mouton Rothschild, and Château Margaux before crossing the Gironde estuary by boat to the imposing Citadel of Blaye. The route continues through the prestigious appellations of Pomerol and Saint-Émilion, and finishes along the Roger Lapébie bike path into the heart of UNESCO-listed Bordeaux.

Tour Program

Day 1: Arrival in Bordeaux – Transfer to Pauillac
You will arrive at Bordeaux train station or airport and transfer by taxi to Pauillac. Your bike and detailed road book will be waiting at your hotel. Settle in and savour the anticipation of the ride ahead, surrounded by the vineyards that produce some of the world’s most celebrated wines.

Day 2: Pauillac – Moulis (40–50 km; +100 m)
You will leave Pauillac, home to three of the five Premier Grands Crus Classés, and ride south along the Route des Grands Crus toward Margaux. The road passes the legendary Château Lafite Rothschild, Latour, and Mouton Rothschild, then continues through Saint-Julien and past the iconic Château Margaux with its striking neoclassical façade. Stop to admire the architecture and soak in the atmosphere of this extraordinary wine route before reaching your accommodation in Moulis or Margaux.

Day 3: Moulis – Bourg-sur-Gironde (40–55 km; +165 m)
You will ride to Lamarque and board a ferry across the broad Gironde estuary. On the far side, the magnificent Citadel of Blaye rises above the water — 33 hectares of fortified history built by Vauban, with sweeping views over the river. You will then cycle through the vineyards of Côtes de Blaye before following the Corniche Fleurie, a coastal road lined with palm trees and pink laurels, to the architectural gem of Bourg-sur-Gironde, perched on its rock above the water.

Day 4: Bourg – Saint-Émilion (40–50 km; +240 m)
Today you will cross three prestigious appellations in a single ride. First the historic vineyards of Fronsac, where wine was poured at the court of Louis XIV. Then the tiny plateau of Pomerol, home to the legendary Pétrus. Finally, the rolling hills of Saint-Émilion unfold before you — a mosaic of vineyards stretching to the horizon, punctuated by Château Angélus and Château Cheval Blanc. You will arrive in the medieval town of Saint-Émilion, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Day 5: Saint-Émilion – Bordeaux (50 km; +220 m)
After crossing the Dordogne River at Branne, you will join the Roger Lapébie bike path — a smooth, car-free track winding through the heart of Entre-Deux-Mers. The route passes through Créon, a typical bastide village, and continues past medieval towns, fortified mills, and Romanesque churches. The path leads directly into Bordeaux, where the majestic Place de la Bourse and the gleaming Miroir d’Eau mark a spectacular finish to your ride.
