Short Description

Cycle from the Bordeaux vineyards to the Atlantic Ocean through the Sauternes wine region and the pine forests of the Landes. Five nights of easy riding ending at the luminous shores of Arcachon Bay in southwest France.

Tour Program

Day 1: Arrival in Bordeaux – Transfer to Cadillac
You will arrive in Bordeaux by train or plane. A taxi will take you to Cadillac, where your adventure begins. Settle into your hotel and collect your guidebook with all the details of your cycling tour. The small town of Cadillac, on the banks of the Garonne, offers a gentle introduction to the Gironde countryside.
Night and breakfast in hotel 3\*.

Day 2: The Entre-Deux-Mers (44 km; +430 m)
You will cycle through the Premières Côtes de Bordeaux, where vineyards cascade down to the Garonne. The route passes the Château Malromé, former home of painter Toulouse-Lautrec, and the Domaine de Malagar, beloved by writer François Mauriac. You will cross the old merchant town of Saint-Macaire, its medieval stones still warm with centuries of trade, before reaching the bastide town of Cadillac and its imposing castle.
Night and breakfast in guesthouse or hotel 3\*.

Day 3: Through the Sauternes Vineyards to the Landes Forest (45–50 km; +175 m)
You will cross to the left bank of the Garonne and enter the world-famous Sauternes vineyards, home to the legendary Château d’Yquem. Twisting roads lead through Budos and valleys carved by the river Ciron. At Balizac, the scenery transforms — you will enter the Regional Natural Park of Landes de Gascogne, a vast expanse of pine forest and heather. The day ends in the charming village of Saint-Symphorien.
Dinner, night and breakfast in charming guesthouse.

Day 4: Through the Landes de Gascogne (55–60 km; +100 m)
A lovely forest road takes you westward through dense pine forest, the scent of resin growing richer with every kilometre. At the Lagoons of Gât-Mort, leave your bike and discover hidden waters beneath a carpet of fern. The Lakes of Hostens offer shade by the shore — perfect for an afternoon pause. The road then winds between pine trees and heather to Le Barp, where a charming stone-built hotel with a swimming pool awaits.
Night and breakfast in hotel 3\*.

Day 5: Towards Arcachon Bay and the Ocean (50 km; +0 m)
You will cycle along a gentle track to Mios, then follow a quiet road as the pine forest gradually thins. At Le Teich, the park meets the sea and the landscape opens wide to the luminous Bay of Arcachon. A coastal path carries you through salt air to Gujan-Mestras and finally to Arcachon, where the seafront and the casino await your evening.
Night and breakfast in hotel 3 or 4\*.

Day 6: Departure
Take the train from Arcachon to Bordeaux (approximately 1 hour).
