Short Description

Cycle from Bordeaux to Toulouse along the UNESCO-listed Canal de Garonne. Seven days of flat towpaths shaded by plane trees, fortified bastide villages, and the vineyard-draped hillsides of the Entre-Deux-Mers in southwest France.

Tour Program

Day 1: Arrival in Bordeaux
You will arrive in Bordeaux, the former Roman Burdigala, a UNESCO World Heritage city inseparable from its legendary vineyard. Collect your bike and route notes, then explore the golden stone facades, the sweeping Garonne riverbanks, and the lively docks where cruise ships sometimes glide past the old town skyline.
Night and breakfast in hotel 3 or 4\*.

Day 2: Bordeaux – Sauveterre-de-Guyenne area (45–60 km; +200 m)
You will leave Bordeaux along the track hugging the Garonne and its landscaped quays, then follow the greenway winding through the hillsides of the Entre-Deux-Mers. Fifty-five kilometres of enchanting trail and quiet lanes lead through Créon and Sauveterre-de-Guyenne, two magnificent fortified bastide towns with stone arcades and flower-filled squares.
Dinner, night and breakfast in a charming guesthouse.

Day 3: Sauveterre area – Meilhan area (25–55 km; +225 m)
The greenway rolls on, alternating between vineyards and forests and crossing small stations converted into charming houses. Despite a few gentle false flats, the track stays easy and offers a breath of pure nature. A shorter stage today lets you savour the many cyclist-friendly stops along the way.
Dinner, night and breakfast in guesthouse or hotel 3\*.

Day 4: Meilhan area – Sérignac-sur-Garonne (55–60 km; +100 m)
You will continue through the rich valley of the Garonne and its orchards. This lovely route, especially between Buzet and Meilhan-sur-Garonne, runs under large plane trees past Buzet-sur-Baïse, Le Mas-d'Agenais, and many other pretty small towns. The water spot of Sérignac is a haven of peace on the canal, where a thirteenth-century village and warm local friendliness await.
Night and breakfast in hotel 3\*.

Day 5: Sérignac-sur-Garonne – Moissac (60 km; +60 m)
This stage is one of the most rewarding as points of interest abound. The easy, secure route shaded by healthy plane trees will help you discover the canal bridge over the Baïse, the Agen aqueduct, Auvillar, Lake Saint-Nicolas-de-la-Grave, and finally Moissac. Your last accommodation along the canal offers panoramic views of the Garonne and Tarn rivers meeting at this very point.
Night and breakfast in hotel 3\*.

Day 6: Moissac – Toulouse (64 km; +100 m)
The Canal de Garonne underlines the charm of rural villages in Tarn-et-Garonne, dominated by churches built in the Toulouse Gothic style. You could visit Montech, valued for its marina and its water slope unique in the world. This peaceful stage, shaded by plane trees, ends with a lively few kilometres entering the heart of Toulouse, the Pink City, with its famous Place du Capitole and distinctive clay-brick architecture.
Night and breakfast in hotel 3\*.
