What is the difficulty level of this tour?
The tour is rated easy to moderate. Most days feature gentle terrain on cycle tracks and quiet roads, but Day 5 from Bergerac to Les Eyzies covers 63 kilometres with 380 metres of climbing. The optional Lascaux route on Day 6 adds further elevation. Overall the tour suits cyclists with a reasonable fitness level.
What type of accommodation is provided?
You will stay in 3 and 4-star hotels and selected charming guesthouses. All rooms have private bathrooms. Breakfast is included every morning. Dinners are not included, giving you the freedom to explore local restaurants.
Can I visit the Caves of Lascaux?
Yes, on Day 6 you can choose the longer route via the Caves of Lascaux. The 47-kilometre option takes you through the Vézère Valley past several prehistoric sites to Lascaux before descending to Sarlat. Entry tickets should be booked in advance during peak season.
Is luggage transfer included?
Yes, your luggage is transferred between accommodations on every cycling day. Each rental bike is equipped with a rear bag and handlebar bag for daily essentials.
How do I get to Bordeaux and from Sarlat?
Bordeaux is well connected by TGV train and has an international airport. From Sarlat, Brive-Vallée de la Dordogne airport is approximately 60 kilometres away with connections to several European cities.
