From Agen to Sarlat: Dordogne Castles & Bastides

Day 1 — Welcome to Agen
Arrive at your hotel in Agen and collect your roadbook and bikes. Explore this 2,000-year-old city renowned for its canal bridge — the second longest in France — its Goya paintings at the Museum of Fine Arts, and of course, the famous Agen prune.

Day 2 — Agen to Villeneuve-sur-Lot | 45 km · ↑ 475 m
Pedal through the countryside of Lot-et-Garonne to the fortified bastide of Villeneuve-sur-Lot. Stop at the Foie Gras Museum and admire the hilltop village of Penne d'Agenais. Dinner and overnight in a 4-star hotel.

Day 3 — Villeneuve-sur-Lot to Monpazier | 50 km · ↑ 550 m
Ride through woods and forest past Monflanquin and the fortress of Gavaudun. Discover Biron castle before arriving in Monpazier, the finest preserved bastide in Périgord with 32 classified monuments — a masterpiece of medieval town planning. Dinner included.

Day 4 — Monpazier to Siorac / Saint-Cyprien | 44–48 km · ↑ 350 m
Follow the Route des Bastides through 13th-century English bastides and visit the UNESCO-listed Cloister of Cadouin. Enter the Périgord Noir, famed for its dense oak canopy and rich heritage. Dinner included.

Day 5 — Siorac to Sarlat | 40–45 km · ↑ 350 m
Cycle along the Dordogne past legendary castles — Les Milandes, Castelnaud and Beynac. Marvel at La Roque-Gageac at the foot of its cliff, then arrive in Sarlat, the gastronomic capital of Périgord Noir and a UNESCO City of Art and History.

Day 6 — Departure from Sarlat
Breakfast and end of services.
