Holland always has an extraordinary charm: a land of history, art, culture, and innovation. However, from mid-March to mid-May it becomes even more beautiful, thanks to the arrival of spring. The tulip bloom in Holland is a spectacle that travelers decide to witness every year.
However, it's very important to know its timing, places, and dynamics to admire this beautiful bloom. On the web there are many information about it, but they often promote only one place: the Keukenhof Park, which is one of the largest parks in the country. In this article, we want to give you all the useful information, to organize your perfect trip to Holland!

The ideal period for the tulip bloom in Holland
The blooming season of tulips in Holland begins in mid-March with the blooming of crocuses, daffodils, and hyacinths. It continues then from mid-April with the tulip bloom, which can be admired until the first week of May.
Actually, the timings can never be exact, because in nature everything is regulated by the weather and therefore, they could undergo some variations. Bulb lovers can, therefore, consider leaving already from late March, but if you are a tulip purist, you will have to wait for April to be able to admire this incredible spectacle of a thousand colours. Generally, however, every year the peak bloom period is mid-April.
Where to see the tulips

If you have little time, the first place to admire the bloom is certainly the Keukenhof Park, near Lisse, where about 7 million bulbs bloom each year. It is considered the largest bulb park in the world and is located 35 km from Amsterdam. It is therefore very easy to reach, even by bike!
However, Keukenhof is not the only place where you can admire the colourful expanses of tulips, you just need to take the bike and start pedalling through the Flevoland region, in the northwestern polder, to immerse yourself in multi-coloured expanses. Here you find most of the companies cultivating bulbs and every year the main Tulip Festivals are held. In this region, there is also a real route of about 100 km, which allows admiring all the blooms, also defined by National Geographic one of the most beautiful routes in the world. Finally, the cultivated fields are also found along the coast of The Hague, near Leiden up to Alkmaar.
If you are looking for a truly authentic flower market, don't miss the one in Utrecht, the Aalsmeer auction and the longest market in Holland: the one in Leeuwarden.
