Short Description

Cycle through Holland in tulip season on a 5-day guided boat and bike tour from Amsterdam. Your ship moves while you ride to Keukenhof, the dunes of North Holland and the windmills of Zaanse Schans, and you sleep on board every night.

Tour Program

Day 1: Amsterdam | Amsterdam – Haarlem
You will board in Amsterdam from 2 p.m., where the crew for the week will be waiting to welcome you. Once everyone has arrived the ship casts off for Haarlem, passing through a historic lock along the way. After mooring you will take a short test ride to settle onto your bike, followed by a welcome dinner on board. The evening is yours to discover Haarlem at your own pace.

Day 2: Haarlem – Keukenhof – Haarlem (50 km)
Today you will cycle to the Keukenhof, arguably the most famous flower park in the world, where hundreds of thousands of tulips, daffodils, hyacinths and many other flowers stand in full bloom. Take your time in the gardens and let the colours do their work. Afterwards you will ride back to Haarlem through classic Dutch scenery.

Day 3: Haarlem – Alkmaar (50 km)
The day starts early. A bus excursion leaves at 6.30 a.m. for the Aalsmeer flower auction, the largest in the world, where millions of flowers change hands every morning. You will be back on board by 9 a.m. for a late and unhurried breakfast. Later a beautiful ride awaits through the North Holland Dune Reserve, a protected coastal landscape of dunes, grasses and fresh sea air, where you may spot grazing cattle or wild ponies. A stop in the seaside town of Egmond leaves time for a coffee by the beach or a quick dip of your toes in the North Sea before you continue to Alkmaar. The ship moors close to the city centre, perfect for an evening stroll through its streets after dinner. The Aalsmeer auction is closed at weekends and on public holidays: the visit is optional, the entrance is included, and on some departures it may not be possible.

Day 4: Alkmaar – Zaanse Schans | Zaanse Schans – Amsterdam (41 km)
After breakfast your ride takes you through the former windmill complex of the Schermer Polder to De Rijp, a charming town where centuries of history are written into the wooden façades, the church, the lock and the town hall. From there you will continue to the Zaanse Schans, an open-air museum of iconic windmills, traditional wooden houses, an old Dutch village, a cheese farm and a clog maker still working in the old way; you will visit one of the mills from the inside. Here you rejoin the ship for an afternoon cruise to Amsterdam, where the rest of the day is yours: the famous flower market, a museum, the shops, or simply the city itself.

Day 5: Amsterdam
End of your tour: disembarkation after breakfast, until 9.30 a.m.
