🙋 Common questions
How difficult is cycling in Holland on this sail and bike tour?
This tour covers between 24 and 53 km on cycling days, on the flat terrain typical of North Holland. Two of the stages offer a shorter and a longer option, so you can adjust the effort day by day. The rides are fully guided by a tour leader. E-bikes can be rented in limited numbers.
When is the best time to see the tulip fields in Holland?
Tulip season in North Holland runs from late March to mid-May, and this tour operates only inside that window. Mid-April is usually the peak, both for the open bulb fields and for Keukenhof, which opens for about eight weeks each spring. Departure dates are shown live on this page under Availability.
How much does a sail and bike tulip tour in Holland cost?
Prices start from €1,369 per person and vary by departure date, ship and cabin type; live prices are shown under Availability. The price covers seven nights on board with breakfast, packed lunches, six three-course dinners, the guided cycling and the full-day Keukenhof excursion. Bike rental costs €98 per week and an e-bike €273.
What is it like to sail on a traditional Dutch sailing ship?
This is a masted sailing ship, not a motor cruiser, and sailing is part of the holiday. On the sailing day between Enkhuizen and Texel you can help with the navigation and with hoisting the sails, with no previous experience required, or simply sit on deck and watch the IJsselmeer. Lunch is served on board while you sail.
Is this tulip tour guided or self-guided?
It is fully guided. A tour leader rides with the group on every cycling day, gives daily briefings on board and leads short walking tours in the towns where the ship moors. The Keukenhof day is an accompanied full-day bus excursion.
Does the tour visit the Keukenhof Gardens?
Yes. A full-day bus excursion to Keukenhof is included in the price, on day 7. The route to the gardens crosses the oldest bulb fields of Holland, and you have plenty of time inside the park before the bus returns to Amsterdam for the last night on board.
Do I need to bring my own bicycle to the Netherlands?
No. A rental bicycle costs €98 per week and an e-bike €273 per week; e-bikes are limited in number, so reserving them when you book is recommended. Helmets can be rented for €10 per week on prior reservation. If you prefer your own bike, parking it on board costs €14 per week, or €35 for an e-bike.
Where does this Netherlands tour start and finish?
The tour starts and finishes in Amsterdam, so it is a loop. You board in the harbour between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. on day 1 and disembark by 9.30 a.m. on day 8. Both Amsterdam Centraal station and Schiphol airport are within easy reach of the mooring.
