Short Description

A grand cycling journey linking five cities that once shared the Habsburg crown. From the imperial splendour of Vienna you will ride through Austria's wine country and thermal springs to Graz, then cross into Slovenia past the vineyards of southern Styria. Maribor, Celje, and Ljubljana each reveal layers of shared Central European heritage. The route traverses the dramatic Karst landscape of caves and underground rivers before arriving in Trieste, the Adriatic port where Mediterranean warmth meets Austro-Hungarian elegance. History, culture, and diverse landscapes unfold at every turn of the pedals.

Tour Program

Day 1: Arrival in Vienna
Individual arrival in Vienna.

Day 2: Vienna – Wiener Neustadt (61 km)
Leaving the city centre, you will enter the Thermen wine region. The spa town of Baden, with its thermal springs, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Wiener Neustadt, built with the ransom of King Richard the Lionheart, invites you to explore its medieval fortress architecture.

Day 3: Wiener Neustadt – Bruck an der Mur (63 km)
The day begins with a ride on the Semmering Railway, the world's first mountain railway and a UNESCO World Heritage Site (ticket included). From Semmering the route descends through Styria to Bruck an der Mur with its medieval buildings.

Day 4: Bruck an der Mur – Graz (61 km)
Following the Mur cycle path through the green heart of Austria, the landscape shifts from Alpine mountains to the mild basin of Graz. The Styrian capital will enchant you with its Schlossberg hilltop and UNESCO-listed old town.

Day 5: Graz – Maribor (75 km)
A highlight of the tour: the ride through southern Styria, one of Austria's most famous wine regions, with picturesque vineyards and traditional taverns. Maribor awaits with the oldest grapevine in the world and a charming historic centre.

Day 6: Maribor – Celje/Laško (77–89 km)
The route continues through the Slovenska Štajerska wine country. Celje is Slovenia's third-largest city; Laško is known for its healing thermal springs and historic brewery.

Day 7: Celje/Laško – Ljubljana (77–101 km)
Through traditional Slovenian villages and over the Trojane Pass with panoramic mountain views. Try the famous Trojane doughnuts. Ljubljana, one of Europe's most charming capitals, awaits with its lively old town, the Tromostovje bridges, and the hilltop castle.

Day 8: Ljubljana – Postojna (60 km)
The impressive Karst landscape with its caves, rocks, and underground rivers accompanies you. Postojna is world-famous for its cave system, one of the largest karst caves on earth. Nearby, Predjama Castle is built into a sheer cliff face.
