Short Description

Discover the striking contrasts of the Valencian hinterland on this 8-day ride from the mountain fortress of Biar to the Mediterranean buzz of Valencia. You will cross rugged sierras, fragrant herb fields and ancient olive terraces before descending to the rice paddies of the Albufera and the vibrant city by the sea.

Tour Program

Day 1: Arrival in Biar
You will arrive in the hilltop village of Biar, where a medieval castle watches over a landscape of almond groves and pine forests. Settle into your rural accommodation and explore the quiet cobbled streets as the late afternoon light turns the stone walls golden.

Day 2: Biar – Bocairent (approx. 40 km)
You will ride through rolling farmland, passing through small agricultural towns surrounded by olive orchards and vineyards. The stage brings you to Bocairent, famous for its Moorish cave dwellings carved into the cliff face and its well-preserved medieval quarter.

Day 3: Bocairent – Agres / Mariola (approx. 35 km)
You will climb gently into the Sierra de Mariola Natural Park, a protected area carpeted with aromatic herbs and wildflowers. The landscape here feels untouched, with sweeping views across valleys dotted with old farmsteads and cherry orchards.

Day 4: Agres – Xàtiva (approx. 50 km)
You will descend from the highlands toward the fertile plains, passing through small towns with whitewashed churches and shaded plazas. Xàtiva awaits with its imposing double castle, Renaissance palaces, and a lively old town that has been a crossroads of civilisations for over two thousand years.

Day 5: Xàtiva – Simat de la Valldigna (approx. 35 km)
You will cycle through the Valldigna valley, where the austere Simat Monastery rises among orange groves. The route passes through a landscape that shifts from mountain foothills to the first hints of the coastal plain.

Day 6: Simat de la Valldigna – Cullera (approx. 40 km)
You will ride down to the coast, watching the mountains give way to flat rice fields and lagoons. Cullera marks the transition from the rural interior to the Mediterranean shore, with a long sandy beach backed by its hilltop castle.

Day 7: Cullera – Valencia (approx. 45 km)
You will enter the Albufera Natural Park, gliding past mirror-still lagoons and vivid green paddies alive with herons and egrets. The final kilometres bring you into Valencia, where the futuristic City of Arts and Sciences contrasts with the Gothic quarter.

Day 8: Departure from Valencia
Your tour ends after breakfast. Depending on your schedule, you may enjoy a final morning exploring Valencia's Mercado Central, the Turia Gardens, or the old Silk Exchange.
