Short Description

Cycle from Toulouse to Bordeaux along the UNESCO-listed Canal de Garonne. Seven days of flat towpaths shaded by plane trees, medieval bastide villages, and the Entre-Deux-Mers wine region across the heart of southwest France.

Tour Program

Day 1: Arrival in Toulouse
You will arrive in Toulouse, the Pink City, well worth a long visit with its famous Place du Capitole and the magical quays of the Garonne at sunset. A city of distinctive architecture, Toulouse is nicknamed for the terracotta bricks used to build its houses. Its other nickname is the City of Violets, a flower you can taste in all its forms. Collect your documentation and road book indicating your route.
Night and breakfast in hotel 3 or 4\*.

Day 2: Toulouse – Moissac (64 km; +100 m)
You will start your cycling tour along the river in the Haute-Garonne department. This peaceful 64-kilometre stage takes place on a safe, quiet greenway, always shaded by plane trees. The cycle path leads you past Montech and its water slope unique in the world, one of the most remarkable works of art in Tarn-et-Garonne. Your itinerary then takes you to Moissac alongside the Canal des Deux Mers and its barges. A small town set in a landscape of orchards and AOC Chasselas grapevines, Moissac invites you to navigate between cultural tourism and green leisure.
Night and breakfast in hotel 3\*.

Day 3: Moissac – Sérignac-sur-Garonne (60 km; +60 m)
This stage is one of the prettiest as there are many points of interest: Lake Saint-Nicolas-de-la-Grave, Auvillar, the canal bridge over the Baïse. The only tricky part is crossing Agen, the Prune Capital — do not forget to taste the city's wonders, rich in 2,000 years of history. Once back on the cycle path, you will cross a succession of three locks to reach Sérignac-sur-Garonne, a thirteenth-century bastide with half-timbered houses and a nautical port that is a haven of tranquillity.
Night and breakfast in hotel 3\*.

Day 4: Sérignac-sur-Garonne – Meilhan area (55–60 km; +100 m)
Your cycling holiday continues along the canal with plenty of opportunities to stop. Le Mas-d'Agenais reveals its fortified rampart and a famous Rembrandt painting, Christ on the Cross. Pedalling along the waterways, you will discover the bastide of Damazan, Villeton and its nautical base, and the rich valley of the Garonne and its orchards. This very pleasant itinerary under large plane trees allows you to discover Buzet-sur-Baïse and many other beautiful small towns.
Dinner, night and breakfast in guesthouse.

Day 5: Meilhan area – Sauveterre area (25–55 km; +225 m)
The greenway is marvellous: it crosses alternately small forests and vineyards. Despite a few gentle false flats, the path stays easy and offers a breath of fresh air. As this stage is shorter, you will take advantage of the many stops along the way. Cyclists discover superb sites along the canals and locks such as Saint-Macaire and its vineyards, La Réole and its history.
Dinner, night and breakfast in guesthouse.

Day 6: Sauveterre area – Bordeaux (45–60 km; +200 m)
This itinerary allows you to discover the Entre-Deux-Mers on 55 kilometres of cycling path, greenways, and small roads. Crossing quiet lanes amidst vineyards, you will follow the trail through the hillsides passing through Sauveterre-de-Guyenne and Créon, magnificent fortified bastides. You will arrive at your own pace at the marvellous quays of Bordeaux along the Garonne. The ancient Roman Burdigala, inseparable from its vineyards, shines brightly in its stone finery.
Night and breakfast in hotel 3\*.
