Tallinn to Klaipeda Bike Tour

Day 1: Arrival in Tallinn
You will arrive in Tallinn and check into your hotel, where your maps, programme and route notes are waiting. At 6 pm you can join a guided walking tour of the medieval old town, with its towers, merchant houses and cobbled lanes.

Day 2: Lahemaa National Park (51 km; ~100 km by minibus)
You will meet your driver and, after a short transfer, ride into Lahemaa National Park, one of the last unspoiled stretches of the Baltic coast. Dense woods, marshes, lakes and waterfalls line the way, and moose, wild boar and more than 220 bird species live here. The night is spent at the Palmse manor guesthouse.

Day 3: Lake Peipsi – Tartu (50 km; ~160 km by minibus)
A morning transfer takes you to Mustvee, where you will cycle along the shore of Lake Peipsi, Europe's fourth-largest lake, divided by the Russian border. Old fishing villages line the road as far as Varnja. A short transfer then brings you to Tartu, Estonia's historic university town, founded around its university in 1632.

Day 4: Otepää – Sangaste – Sigulda (28 km; ~235 km by minibus)
After a short transfer to Otepää, you will ride through the lakes and hills known as "Estonian Switzerland" to Sangaste, famous for its 19th-century castle modelled on Windsor. The afternoon transfer crosses into Latvia, with a stop in the medieval old town of Cēsis, before reaching Sigulda in the Gauja valley.

Day 5: Gauja National Park – Saulkrasti – Riga (40 km; ~50 km by minibus)
You will cycle through Gauja National Park, with views over the river valley, the Gūtmanis Cave, the ruins of Sigulda's 13th-century Crusader castle and Turaida Castle. The ride ends on the Baltic coast at Saulkrasti, home to the Latvian bicycle museum. In the afternoon you transfer to Riga for a guided tour of its Hanseatic, Art Nouveau old town.

Day 6: Riga and Jūrmala (35 km; ~25 km by train)
A free day in Riga. You can explore the city on your own or follow a bike path to Jūrmala, Latvia's best-known seaside resort, with long white beaches and pine-lined streets. Swim in the sea, try riding along the sand, and take the local train back to Riga in the evening (ticket not included).

Day 7: Hill of Crosses – Palanga – Klaipėda (32 or 42 km; ~290 km by minibus)
A long transfer to the Lithuanian coast stops at the Hill of Crosses, where thousands of crosses cover two small hills. You will then ride the coastal bike path through the Seaside Regional Park to Klaipėda, passing Palanga with its Botanical Park, Amber Museum and 470-metre pier.

Day 8: Curonian Spit – Hill of Witches – Nida (57 km; ~50 km back by boat or minibus)
After a short ferry crossing (ticket not included), an asphalt bike path leads you down the Curonian Spit to Nida, Lithuania's most beautiful resort. You can follow the Hill of Witches forest path with its wooden sculptures, watch grey herons and cormorants, walk on the "Dead" dunes or stop for a swim. In the afternoon a two-hour boat trip or a minibus brings you back to Klaipėda.

Day 9: Departure from Klaipėda
Your tour ends after breakfast. You can extend your stay in Lithuania.

Good to know
A driver with a minibus and bike trailer travels with you on every day except Jūrmala and the Curonian Spit, moves your luggage and helps with breakdowns. Guided two-hour walking tours are included in Tallinn and Riga (entrance fees extra). Train tickets to Jūrmala and the ferry in Klaipėda are not included. The nearest airports for the return are Palanga (35 km) and Vilnius (300 km).
