Round Trip Altmühl & Danube: From and to Eichstätt

Day 1: Arrival in Eichstätt
You will arrive in Eichstätt, a gem of the Altmühl Nature Park with its cathedral, bishop's residence and the Willibaldsburg fortress. Your rental bike (if booked) is ready at the hotel. Parking is available nearby (approx. €10/week, payable on site). Overnight in a 3- or 4-star hotel.

Day 2: Eichstätt – Riedenburg (68 km)
The car-free Altmühl cycle path will take you through juniper heathlands past Walting, Kipfenberg — the geographical centre of Bavaria — and Kinding with its fortified church. You will continue via Beilngries, with its baroque town hall and Hirschberg Castle, to Riedenburg. Overnight in a 3-star hotel.

Day 3: Riedenburg – Regensburg (56 km)
You will ride via Bad Abbach to Regensburg, a UNESCO World Heritage city with the medieval Stone Bridge, its magnificent cathedral, and the Thurn und Taxis Palace. A guided tour of the historic Reichstag in the Old Town Hall — complete with torture chamber — is included. Tip: continue to Valhalla along the Danube cycle path and return by boat (+16 km and 120 min boat, payable on site). Overnight in a central 4-star hotel.

Day 4: Regensburg – Bad Gögging (50 km + boat)
You will follow the Danube cycle path to the dramatic Danube Breakthrough gorge. An included boat trip takes you through the gorge to Weltenburg Monastery, home to the world's oldest monastic brewery and an atmospheric beer garden. You will then continue to Bad Gögging. Overnight in a 4-star hotel.

Day 5: Bad Gögging – Neuburg an der Donau (56 km)
Again on the car-free Danube cycle path, you will ride through hop fields and past beautiful bathing lakes to Vohburg and Ingolstadt — with its Anatomy, New Castle and Old Town — then on to Neuburg an der Donau with its castle pharmacy and charming old town. Overnight in a 3-star hotel.

Day 6: Neuburg an der Donau – Eichstätt (60 km)
The grand finale: a short stretch along the Danube and then through the Wellheim dry valley to medieval Dollnstein, before completing the loop back to Eichstätt. Overnight as on arrival day.

Day 7: Departure
Your tour ends after breakfast. You may extend your stay with additional nights or begin your journey home.
