🙋 Common questions
How much does a Parenzana cycling tour in Istria cost?
The 5-day Parenzana cycling tour starts from €650 per person in a double room with 3-star hotels, in the early and late season. Prices rise in summer and with 4-star hotels. Bike rental is separate, from €100 for a hardtail mountain bike for the three riding days, and single and solo traveller supplements apply.
What is the best season to ride the Parenzana from Trieste to Poreč?
The tour can start any day from mid-March to mid-November. Spring and autumn bring the lowest prices and milder temperatures for the climbs inland, while July and August are the busiest and warmest months. Late April to June and September to mid-October are good compromises for riding and sightseeing.
How difficult is the Parenzana cycling tour in Istria?
The tour is graded easy to moderate and suits occasional cyclists with a good level of fitness. There are three riding days of 38 to 65 km, with up to about 630 m of climbing per day. Much of the Parenzana is on macadam, with tunnels and old railway bridges along the way.
Which bikes can I rent for the Parenzana trail?
You can choose a hardtail mountain bike, a hardtail e-mountain bike, an aluminium gravel bike, a carbon e-gravel bike or a low-entry e-trekking bike. Rental covers the three riding days and includes a helmet, lock, pump and spare tube. Flat pedals are included; clip-in pedals cost extra.
Is luggage transferred between hotels on the Parenzana tour?
Yes. Your luggage is moved between accommodations each riding day, so you only carry what you need on the bike. You will receive textile bags with luggage tags and a water bottle, plus a digital information package with route descriptions, maps and GPX files.
How do I get to Trieste for the start of the Parenzana tour, and back from Poreč?
You travel to Trieste independently by train, bus or plane. Private transfers can be booked at extra cost from airports and stations such as Trieste, Venice, Ljubljana, Zagreb and Pula, and from Poreč back to the same hubs at the end of the tour.
How do I navigate the Parenzana route without a guide?
The tour is self-guided. A navigation app works offline with voice guidance and gives information on points of interest and restaurant suggestions. You also receive GPX files and a detailed digital route description, and a 24/7 emergency number is available throughout the tour.
