Short Description

The GT20 is Corsica's legendary cycling route — a grand traverse of the entire island from north to south along mountain passes, coastal roads and timeless villages. This northern chapter follows the GT20 from Bastia to Calvi, crossing the wild Cap Corse peninsula, the sun-baked Désert des Agriates and the enchanting hilltop villages of the Balagne region. Over five cycling stages, you will ride through landscapes that shift dramatically with every turn — from the rugged Genoese watchtowers and lobster ports of Cap Corse to the vineyard-clad hills of Patrimonio, the silent beauty of the Agriates interior and the medieval perched villages of Sant'Antonino and Pigna. The journey ends in Calvi, where a magnificent Genoese citadel rises above an azure bay backed by the snow-dusted peaks of Monte Cinto. With daily distances of 40–70 km and moderate climbing, this tour is ideal for confident cyclists seeking a deep immersion into northern Corsica's extraordinary diversity of landscapes, flavours and history.

Tour Program

Day 1: Arrival in Bastia
You will arrive in Bastia and transfer from the airport to your hotel. Take time to discover the capital of northern Corsica — the superb old port, the freely accessible citadel and the old town with its panoramic views over the sea. For dinner, the atmospheric old port is the place to be.

Day 2: Bastia – Centuri (55 km; +717 m / −715 m)
You will head north along the coast, riding through woodland and along dramatic cliffs dotted with Genoese towers, old convents and mills. The small marinas and fishing ports along the way are beautiful. Your destination is Centuri — France's premier lobster port, a tiny harbour of painted houses and bobbing boats at the western tip of Cap Corse.

Day 3: Centuri – Saint-Florent (56 km; +1216 m / −1220 m)
You will leave Cap Corse and ride south toward Saint-Florent. The route passes through the celebrated wine village of Patrimonio, where tastings are possible in the local cellars. The views of the Gulf of Saint-Florent accompany you throughout the stage. In Saint-Florent, explore the citadel and stroll along the harbour and its charming shopping streets.

Day 4: Saint-Florent – Monticello (51 km; +796 m / −576 m)
You will ride through the heart of the Désert des Agriates, a vast, silent landscape of maquis and dry hills. From hamlet to hamlet, you will cross this extraordinary desert and draw closer to the sea. The route then climbs to the heights of Balagne before descending to the coast and its Genoese towers. Your evening stop is Monticello — do not miss the sunset over the sea from the village.

Day 5: Monticello – Calvi (40 km; +601 m / −786 m)
You will cross the splendid hilltop villages of Balagne — Sant'Antonino, Pigna and many others, each with its own discreet charm. You will then descend to Calvi, a magnificent city with an azure beach backed by the Monte Cinto massif and crowned by a 13th-century Genoese citadel. A true Mediterranean paradise — and the birthplace, some say, of Christopher Columbus.

Day 6: Calvi (free day or optional 79 km loop)
You will enjoy a free day in Calvi to explore the citadel, relax on the beach or take an optional 79 km loop ride toward Galeria through the wild Fango valley — one of Corsica's most beautiful and remote coastal roads.

Day 7: Departure from Calvi
Transfer to Calvi airport after breakfast. End of your Corsican adventure.
