How difficult is this tour?
Rated 3 out of 5. The route is mostly coastal but includes some hills, particularly around Bjäre peninsula (Day 3) and north of Varberg (Day 6). Total elevation is approximately 1,500 m spread over six riding days. Good fitness is recommended.
What type of surface is the route?
Mostly asphalted cycle paths and quiet minor roads. Some gravelled sections occur. The route is well signposted throughout.
Can I shorten any stages?
Yes — Day 2 can be shortened from 62 to 49 km. Day 3 has a 41 km shortcut skipping Bjäre peninsula (or you can ride the full 94 km without the train). Day 6 can be cut from 72 to 50 km by taking a train from Åsa. Day 7 can be shortened from 63 to 41 km by skipping the Onsala peninsula.
Is there a train section?
Day 3 includes a short train ride from Båstad to Halmstad (bikes welcome, ~€10-20). You can also ride the full stretch (94 km) if you prefer.
How do I get to the start?
Fly to Copenhagen and take a train to Helsingborg (1-1.5 hours, ~€25). Ferries from Helsingør (Denmark) also arrive directly at Helsingborg.
