Évora Farmhouse Cycling Tour 5 Days

Day 1: Arrival in Évora
You will travel to Évora, where you will be picked up at the bus or train station, or arrive with a private transfer from the airport booked as a supplement. You will settle into Monte do Serrado de Baixo, a boutique farm guesthouse 8 km from Évora, surrounded by olive groves, cork oaks and grazing sheep. At 5:00 PM a welcome drink with regional wine, cheese and olive oil comes with a briefing by your guide on the routes ahead.

Day 2: First cycling route from the farm
After breakfast your guide will meet you to help you plan the ride of the day. Over the next days you will ride 3 routes of your choice, chosen from Route 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5, with 3 transfers included. With no bags to pack, you can adapt the kilometres to your level, or swap a ride for walking or kayaking.

Routes to choose from

Route 1: The Famous Carpets (41–59 km)
Along the eco-trail, a bike lane built on an old railway, you will reach Graça do Divor, a well-preserved white and blue village where Mrs. Ilda's meat pies are worth a stop, then Arraiolos, with its historic centre, famous carpets, the local sweet Pastéis de Toucinho and the views from its castle. A winery visit with wine tasting and a private carriage collection end the day. Medium; 41 to 59 km depending on where you sleep, plus 7 km to the Ravasqueira winery or 1 to 5 km to Fita Preta.

Route 2: The Wine and Cork Route (41–56 km)
From Évora you will ride to Igrejinha, a white village where every house has stripes in different colours, with a winery and an old olive mill. A prickly pear plantation offers its juice or tea, the cork factory shows how cork is transformed, and Fita Preta winery, set in a 14th-century palace, closes the day. Medium; 41 to 56 km.

Route 3: Megalithic Monuments (47–59 km)
The morning is for Évora, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with the Bones Chapel, the 13th-century cathedral and a wine tasting at the Évora Wine Tour Shop. Then you will ride through holm oak forests and meadows to Zambujeiros' Dolmen, the biggest in Europe, the Almendres Cromelech, the oldest megalithic monument in Europe, the Almendres Menhir and Mitra's Church. Medium; 47 to 59 km.

Route 4: Conquest of Valongo Castle (30–55 km)
Most of the day follows a peaceful, very flat cycling lane away from traffic, with detours to little villages and local cafés or a picnic in nature. After a stop in Nossa Srª de Machede you will reach the castle of Valongo and its Roman past, then continue on the ecotrail, the asphalt road or a dirt track to the Ervideira winery, with a transfer back. Medium; 30 to 55 km.

Route 5: Évora and its Surroundings (30–35 km)
An easier day: from the farm you will cycle to a cheese factory for a visit and tasting, then into Évora to explore its monuments and taste wine at the Ervideira Wine Shop. In the evening you can climb to Alto de São Bento to watch the sunset. Easy, except the optional climb; 30 to 35 km.

Day 5: Departure
After breakfast you will be dropped off at the bus or train station in Évora. A transfer to the airport can be booked as a supplement.
