Drava Cycle Path Classic: Lienz to Lake Klopein

Day 1: Arrival in Lienz
You will arrive in the sunny town of Lienz, the gateway to East Tyrol. Parking is available at the train station, the Dolomitenstadion, or at the hotel. Your rental bikes, if booked, will be ready at the hotel.

Day 2: Lienz – Oberdrauburg/Berg im Drautal (58 km bike + 37 min train)
You will take the Drautalbahn train to Sillian (hourly service, approx. €15) and then follow the Drava Cycle Path gently downhill on beautiful, secluded sections past Lienz to your destination. Alternatively, you can cycle directly from Lienz (28 km).

Day 3: Oberdrauburg – Millstatt/Spittal (59 km)
The route leads to the medieval town of Greifenburg and past Neustein Castle. Passing Raggnitz Castle, you will reach Spittal an der Drau with its magnificent Porcia Castle, and nearby Millstatt with its historic monastery.

Day 4: Lake Millstatt Round Tour (48 km)
Today you will enjoy a scenic loop around Carinthia's second-largest lake. The route takes you through Dellach, Döbriach, Großegg, and Seeboden, with beautiful views of the lake and the surrounding mountain ranges.

Day 5: Millstatt/Spittal – Villach (42 km)
Passing Rothenthurn Castle to Paternion, you will ride flat and beautifully along the Drava River to Villach. Explore the historic centre, the Church of the Holy Spirit, the parish tower, and the doll and vehicle museum.

Day 6: Villach – Ferlach/Kirschentheuer (52 km)
You will follow the Drava River past Rosegg Castle with Austria's most species-rich zoo and the Celtic World near Frög. Through the enchanting Rosental valley, past the pilgrimage church of Maria Elend and the Ferlach Reservoir to the Gunsmith Museum town.

Day 7: Ferlach – Lake Klopein (43 km)
Your final stage leads through an idyllic landscape to Gallizien and past Neudenstein Castle. You will ride to Völkermarkt with its parish church and old town hall, then along quiet side roads to reach Lake Klopein.

Day 8: Departure
After breakfast, your tour ends. Journey home or extend your stay with additional nights.
